Over on the other RE forum, a fellow posted this pic of an oil leak he has on a brand new Super Meteor. Leaking on day 1 apparently.

Now, I don't have a 650 engine to look at and I don't know about the oil leak, but my question is, does every 650 engine come with this amount of excess silicone sealant around every seam of the crankcases, as he claims to have on his bike? This shot is of the area under the front sprocket cover.

My 350 Meteor has no sign of sealant forced from joints at all.

Past rides:
1966 Honda 65 Sport
1967 Honda CB160
1973 Honda CB750
1982 Honda V45 Magna - the most uncomfortable bike I ever did a cross country tour on!
1983 Honda CB1000
1995 Honda ST1100 - sold 2015 after 175,000 km
1996 Honda ST1100
Current ride:
2021 Royal Enfield Stellar Blue Meteor 350

Mine neither leaks oil nor does it have excessive sealant anywhere.

My 2019 Interceptor has some sealant but nothing to this extent. From the VIN, I think mine was one of the first batch made/imported in to the US.

My Int650 has some sealant visible on pretty much all engine seams. Not excessive thou.

Thanks to all for your replies. I thought this was an excessive use of sealant and it was either a newby working on the assembly line, or the quality control department is asleep on the line. Makes me wonder how much is on the inside and would any of it end up in the sump?
