I received the Daytona 48mm tachometer today and replaced the Tripper unit. I used the Tripper power supply (white and black wires), and the Tripper mount. I didn't have a decent piece of metal about so I put a hole in the tripper mount and attached the tachometer on its v bracket. 1 pulse, 2 revs. An easy job even for a bloke like me who isn't that adept.  I haven't  got the navigation unit in the right spot just yet.

How are the Tachometers wired in.  Is it just a wrap around the Plug lead or is there a proper wiring point ?

Yes, I just wrapped the wire around the plug cable. For power I used the white and black wires from the Tripper.

I'm not that game. The tachometer has a max rev counter that show the highest rev in that session. I got it to 5855rpm. I feel that anything more than 6500 might end up putting the piston into your crotch.

I suppose that the max power at 6100 rpm an the max torque at 4000 rpm are a sort of guide.  It would be interesting to know what RE regard as the red line.

Found this on one of the motorcycle magazine test sites ::

Powering the Meteor’s flight is an all-new air-cooled 349cc single with SOHC actuating two valves, an engine that’s as welcoming as can be. On Jett Tuning’s dyno it chugged out 18 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 18 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 pm, with redline just past 6,500 rpm (there’s no tachometer on the bike)

According to Cycle World’s test, redline is 6,800 rpm.

I have fitted the Daytona Velona which is 60mm (same as tripper) it also has a digital display which I am using for outside temp using the optional sensor. I think it looks good and I was never going to use the tripper anyway.
