Recently got a 2006 Bullet 500ES from out front of a shop that closed it's doors for good and was using the bike at the end of the road as a display. Hoping for $150 well spent

Pulled the engine and the big end is TOAST. Not much good in the engine in general.

Hoping to scour this site for knowledge and ideas.

The conrod/big-end/piston are all junk from the factory anyway.
Do a competent rebuild with a steel conrod with Alpha roller big-end, a Hitchcock 8.5:1 piston in a new alloy barrel(not the cast iron stocker) properly bored/honed to .0055" clearance, retard the stock intake cam only by one tooth counterclockwise(leave exhaust cam in factory position).
The other parts should be okay to use.
That is the recipe.

You might want to add some high-quality main bearings to the rebuild mix too.

Ace, is the Fireball conversion still available for owners of C.I. Bullets in the USA? This motorcycle sounds like a prime candidate. I know your efforts are concentrated on the CGT these days.

Adrian,
Chumma is still doing them on request. I still have some parts. We have a new machinist that is willing to do our work, so Iron Barrel Fireballs could be coming back with increased demand.

Talked to Chumma on the phone for quite a while today. Things are looking positive.

If iron barrel fireballs are coming back, is there hope for Ace air canisters?

What's the state of the iron barrel right now? I feel like I've seen more demand for them, but I also may be looking at a sample too small to illustrate the big picture.

Air canisters are discontinued.
Sorry.

My offer / willingness to get you to make an Ace Canister for my UCE B5 is still open also!

Happy to negotiate a higher price if that makes you bring the Ace Canister back  8)

It was a custom air filter used on the Fireball Bullets, A vertically mounted cylindrical thingy with a horizontal rubber pipe to the carb, usually a Mikuni flat slide TM32-1.

I'm sure Ace or a Fireball owner can come up with a picture.

Here is a photo of a Bullet with an Ace Air Canister on its Mikarb 28.
I also made them with a larger connecting hose for a Mikuni TM32.

Maybe if we can get a few more people together, I can make a small run of them as special order.

Aha, thanks! I fitted an oiled foam, cylindrical filter to my 350 when I gave it a 26mm concentric type carb. I already had a “K&N” cone type filter for it but when the new carb arrived it had a screw on ram tube already fitted and I wanted to keep that. The foam filter fits neatly over it.

I also have two spares; I’d bought them to go on a triple throttle body car engine project which I didn’t go ahead with because I designed a supercharger setup for that instead.
