Following the debacle of the Enfield touch up can incident, I tried painting the tail hump and side panel with some red Rattle can paint from the toy aeroplane building cupboard. It's $10 a can at the Supercheap, no specific colour just generic red. But damned if it's not almost an exact match! Couple of coats of colour and a couple of clear and it's looking presentable. Once the paint's had time to fully harden I might flat it back and polish but looks good for now. The panel alongside the hump is the original colour undamaged panel.

Looks like a perfect match to me. I doubt anyone will detect it.

A casualty  after my high speed test last Sunday and a good 160 Km ride on small bumpy roads 
The wiring is extremely durable as the horn was dangling against the cylinder for I don't know how many kilometres
The horn is quite heavy at 350g and only held in place by 2 thin iron strips.




I replaced it with a slightly lighter horn (250g) held in place by 3 iron strips. I installed it at the same place under the tank to hide it as much as possible.

That's funny. One of my horns broke off after about 2000km, the other had hung in there for 50,000.

I finally finished screwing my GT back together enough to take it for a spin around the suburb today. I'm still waiting for a few little bits to finish off but it's working again! Thank goodness, it rode straight and true, no crabbing so I'm confident nothing's bent. It's smoking like a train though. It spent an hour or so upside down and a lot of oil made it's way down the breather and flooded the airbox. I cleaned it out but I suppose there's still plenty coating various surfaces that'll take a while to burn out. Plus the guy who fixed my muffler repacked it with new lagging so maybe that's smoking too. I needed to add a pint of oil to top it off.
