Title: G5 extras
Post by: zubrado on March 05, 2010, 03:18:06 am
Hello all.  I'm planning on buying my first bike in a couple weeks, and have decided that the G5 is the bike for me.  I just have a couple questions about accessories though.  I've read through some earlier posts, and came across some that mention them, but were somewhat ambiguous in their answers.  Does the G5 have the same frame that the Electra?  I want to get some saddle bags, and I just want to know if I'll need to get some brackets too, and also so I can shop for future accessories.  Basically will any part or accessory designed for an Electra work for the G5?

Thanks

Unfortunately CMW hasn't yet to put the G5 and C5 in the filters for searching for parts on their store. The G5 does have the same frame as the Electra, and most Electra parts should work on the G5. I put the slant saddle bags on my G5 and used the style 2 brackets. You need some sort of bracket to ensure the bags stay away from the wheel.

Is it only the Electra EFI or the 500 Electra as well.  I really want to get the steel side carrier set, but it says they are for the 500 Classic, Deluxe, and 50 Military.  Any knowledge as to whether they'll work on the G5?

I see that in the luggage section that they have filters for the G5 now, but they only show one part (chrome rear carrier) as fitting the G5. There are a lot more parts in the luggage section that will fit the G5. I would use the "Bullet Electra 500" filter for parts that would work on the G5. It doesn't show that the steel side carrier set is for the Electra frame, only for the previous models with the frame like the C5. Your best bet would be to call CMW, I'm sure Tim (parts guy) could answer your questions.
