After overheating the clutch on my 2021 Himalayan on a 45 minute dry creekbed hillclimb, I ordered a clutch kit and will wait a month for it to arrive, so I pulled the clutch and sanded the steel plates, removing the glazing. Re-installed and the clutch no longer slips, but I'm wondering if I re-installed it wrong. I can either set the clutch lever adjustment so that it is partially active with the clutch lever all the way in (in other words the bike tries to move forward), or so that it slips a little with the clutch lever all the way out. There is zero freeplay, or I guess less than zero.

Any ideas where I screwed up?
