Hello, I did not ride my 2010 B5 for a while and it wont start. I think the battery may be out of charge. How do I charge the battery. Can a local motorcycle repair shop help? Thanks.

You can get a Battery Tender Jr. for about $30. It even has leads that you can connect and leave on the battery so it's easy to hook up. That should charge you up overnight.
Of course you could pull the battery and take it to a shop and ask them to charge it.

As a better bet, since the stock batteries are a known POS, go buy a new one, preferably an AGM type that has the acid a Glass Mat. Dekas or Big Cranks are available for about $70 online and will give great service, They also don't spill if you fall off.

Replaced the stock batteries with $100 one (sorry, can't recall the brand but I am told this is the same one Harley's use). And all is good now.

For that price, I hope the new battery doesn't have any battery caps.
That much money should have bought at least a sealed battery which can be pretty good.
I think the absorbent glass mat (AGM) (also sealed) are probably the best for motorcycles and similar vibrating things.

Not that I'm defending Harley in anyway...... But the Harley batteries are AGM batteries. But I guarantee for $100 it is NOT Harley branded. I know for a fact those batteries go for between $150-$180 because when I worked for Advance Auto Farts, I heard the Harley owners bitching all summer long about how much the Dealers want for a new battery. If I'm not mistaken it is a 15L AGM battery. Advance and AutoZone both sell Power Sport AGMs which are pretty descent.

It's a Deka battery. Can't tell the exact model without opening the battery compartment. If anyone really wants to know please post here.

Pretty expensive, though. You can get Deka AGMs online for about $70.00 delivered in a couple of days.

I was just joking Scottie. Though if you remembered batteries in the '70s, I had a '75 XLCH (kickstart only) that lived on the trickle charger. Had to keep a bathtub underneath it too, but that is an AMF story for a different board.
