Title: Push rod ends.
Post by: chinoy on January 21, 2010, 02:49:56 pm
The push rods are Ali with steel ends.
Are the ends screwed in or pushed in.
Is it possible to pop the ends off. Say to shorten the rods and then put them back in.

If its a screw in type do you know if its a reverse thread or a straight thread.
Somebody had some push rods which where bent they could maybe experiment.

They just push on,but you will find the alloy ends have been turned down just the tinniest smidge.

Thanks
Any idea what the pre-load should be on these hydraulic tappets ?

Does the service manual give any info on how to check your rod length / pre load / lash.

Harley boys recommend around 40 Thou off pre-laod. So Im going with that with the lack of a better number.

I heard a rumor that the hydraulic tappets are actually the same ones used in one of the Harley models. I don't know which model.
You might look into it.
