I'm currently playing four different phototag games on some other forums, and I was wondering if you guys would like to try it. It's lots of fun, everyone all over the world can play.
It's pretty simple. Someone states the new tag. You ride out and take a picture of your bike in the location or with the object that meets the challenge. If you're the first person to get the tag and post your picture, you get to announce the next tag. I'll give you a few examples of tags I've gotten in the other games I'm playing:
One tag was "Your bike with a fire truck." I went to one of the stations in town that had their bay door open and snapped this picture...
Then I got to announce the new tag.
In another one, the tag was your bike with a boulder of a certain size. I went for a ride up in the hills until I found this one...
One was "Your bike with a vehicle in a field that's obviously been there a long time." I rode around outside of town and found this truck to win the tag...
In another game, the tag was "Your bike in a fast food drive thru." So I went to a burger place and grabbed that tag...
I got some funny looks from people with that one, especially after I took the picture and then rode away without ordering anything; it was good for a laugh.
New tags you can come up with are limited only by your imagination. I've seen some pretty creative ones. So, anyone want to play? The rules are simple:
1. Your bike must be in the picture.
2. If the tag is some sort of a business, national chains aren't allowed. They're too common and make the game too easy.
3. Nothing illegal or dangerous (no pics of you riding a wheelie on the freeway or anything stupid like that).
4. The first person to successfully post the tag is the winner, but if you also got it (but too late) and want to post your pic anyway just for fun, feel free to do so (the point is to have fun riding, and it's cool to see pictures of people getting out and having fun with their bikes).
5. If a challenge is not met within a 48 hour period, the current tag will be dropped and the previous winner will declare a new tag. (We can be flexible with this rule. For example, if the time is up but someone has said they can get it the next morning, it's okay to let the time limit slide a bit to give the person time to do it. But if no one has said they can get it soon for sure, then it's time to declare a new tag.)
6. No Photoshop.
7. Pictures must be taken after the tag was announced. In other words, no using old pictures you've got saved on your computer to win a current tag. That's cheating and defeats the purpose of the game.
8. If a tag proves difficult to find and someone posts a picture that almost meets the requirement (for example, something that's almost as big or almost as old as specified in the tag), it will be up to the person who specified the tag to decide if it's 'close enough'.
9. State the location of the picture (if it's not obvious), just to satisfy everyone's curiosity.
10. You can't get your own tag.
I'll start. First tag: Your bike in front of a vacuum cleaner repair shop (must say 'repairs' or 'service' to prove they do repairs and not just sales).
Let's see who can get it within 48 hours. Go!
-
My compulsive obsessive self is so in..... starts googling....
-
I forgot to include rule #10, I just added it to the post above.
-
I like it! Until a month ago I lived a few blocks from a vacuum cleaner repair shop. Don't think I can get over there before somebody else gets it though... Doh!!!
Eamon
-
Check your local yellow pages. There are probably more around than you realize.
-
i could get that picture in 2 hrs ( shop is 40 miles away) but ,it probly take me 5 days to figgure out how to post it.
-
It's raining @@%$&
-
FTW
(http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/gallery/1012_14_05_10_5_43_35.JPG)
The shop was only 15 blocks from my house.. Ran over after supper for the picture so a bit dark..
I think CMW is has upgraded the photo uploads or something because it worked real smooth.
I like Railroads, so for the next photo I would like to see some railroad rolling stock. New, old, retired, engine, caboose, dinner conversion, as long as its rolling stock.
-
Excellent!
Uh... Exactly what do you mean by rolling stock? I'm unfamiliar with railroad terminology.
-
Haha! You got it... nice one.
Awesome game!
-
Uh... Exactly what do you mean by rolling stock? I'm unfamiliar with railroad terminology.
Anything that rolls on the rails, engines, freight or passenger cars, etc.
-
Gotcha!
Next tag: Your bike in a parking lot (anyplace else will not count) next to another bike with an engine size bigger than your own.
-
There is no comparison between my RE and an Hogedly nor will there ever be. ;D
-
Does this count?? ;D ;D Its half of my Enfield next to a 750 Norton Commando Combat. If so it counts, how about your Enfield next to a classic car or truck :)
-
Well, you're supposed to be riding a bike that's running to find the tags, but we'll let that one count this time to keep things moving since we're just trying to get this game off the ground.
So, a classic car or truck. Hmm, I'll have to do some scouting around...
-
I sat on it and someone pushed me to get there ;D ;D (Next time I will read the rules better :D )
-
My 08 Iron Barrel with some old detroit iron, 1950 Chevy Rat Rod
-
NICE! ;D
-
Oops forgot to add the next tag, how about in front of an old school ice cream parlor...no chains
-
Dang! There's an old ice cream parlor in the next town over, but I don't know when I'll have a chance to ride again (busy with kids and stuff).
You guys get out there and find one!
-
Oops forgot to add the next tag, how about in front of an old school ice cream parlor...no chains
Here is one from me - a small but great ice cream place at corner of street.
For the NEXT tag - Fresh Corn or Chicken Eggs Sold Here !
-
Ok now i really gotta get the patio finished so i can get my bullet untrapped from the garage and play.....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :'(
-
(http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg51/mike53787/btp.jpg)
Next tag: An abandoned barn.
Bonus points if it's so old that it's leaning over. ;D
-
I would have won but for my fiddling with my carb jetting... baaa...
Well, I could not walk away from the bike as the ground was real soft but I got the seat in the picture...
And yes,, I bought 4 ears of corn and some plums..
-
If my bike was running, I would ride over to some of the old barns that got destroyed in the bad storm we had a little over a week ago and snap a picture. Its it triple points if they are on the ground? ;D
-
If you can get one being lifted off the ground by a tornado, you get to rule the world.
If you survive taking the picture.
-
I have started to take my camera with me now that this is going on... Here is a seen from my morning commute...
and FTW... Had a photographer on the pillion for this one..
Next tag.. Since I like old things I want to see an old military installation/fort predating 1945.. It can be a marker or sign for and old fort or a coastal bunker.. Just gotta be old...
-
I have started to take my camera with me now that this is going on...
Since I started playing these phototag games last year, I've been carrying my camera in my pocket every time I ride. I'm always keeping my eyes open for things to use for tags. It adds another purpose to your riding and increases the fun factor. I've even started doing this when driving my car, making mental notes of good places/things to use for future tags when I see them.
OCD, perhaps? :D
-
It's been three days. No one can get this one? Maybe time for a new tag?
-
Eh.. How about in front of City Hall....
-
City Hall in Roseburg, Oregon:
Next tag: A multi-colored fire danger sign, like this one...
-
No fair, in colorado the signs are always red
-
Well, it's been three days, so I guess it's time to try something else.
New tag: Your bike and a port-a-potty.
-
I wann'a play! Oh, my bike is broken. :'(
Ya'll don't dare stop this game of tag. I love these games. I used to play a version of it in Iraq. "camel in truck","camel in frt yard","camel in road". Yea, we lacked imagination.
-
"camel in truck","camel in frt yard","camel in road". Yea, we lacked imagination.
In a game I'm playing on another website, I stated the new tag a few weeks ago as your bike and a llama or alpaca. Someone got it. Here's the pic if you want to see it...
http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad56/acertainman/699baa6f.jpg
-
Another three days. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that after starting off with a bang, no one is interested in playing now.
-
I'd play, there's a porta-potty near here but I would have to push the bike there.
My oil pipe devolved a crack in it on Friday and it's been a great weekend to ride. But I'm just looking at the bike sitting in the garage.
-
Another three days. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that after starting off with a bang, no one is interested in playing now.
If there is no response in 3 days, why not CHANGE the tag - that is easy to find for wider audience ? Some topics will be easy for city dwellers and others easier for country side residents !
-
Another three days. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that after starting off with a bang, no one is interested in playing now.
Dang i'd be all over it if my bike was on the road and not stuck in the garage! I hope the game is still on next month!
-
Hey, here's one you can try. "Enfield torn apart in garage."! :D :D :D :D ::)
-
Hi Slider,
Only noticed phototag last week after a while off the forum and was to late for the pre 1945 military installation, I ride past a few on the way to work and although I'm not aware of those fire warning signs here in S.W. England I'm now keep a camera in my pocket and an eye out for the latest item on the list. :)
-
Hey, here's one you can try. "Enfield torn apart in garage."! :D :D :D :D ::)
I'd be the weener for sure!
-
On my way to the porta john in the morning. It' just too close to 100* F here in S. TX in the afternoons. :P
-
On my way to the porta john in the morning.
Do you plan to get this one? I was going to change it, but I'll wait if you're going for it.
-
Yeah, I'll get it tomorrow morning before the heat gets me. Maybe someone else will com in before me now that the gauntlet has been waved. ;D
-
Waiting for the next one .
-
This was taken about 12 miles from my house. It's near half way to the Canyon Lake Dam on the Guadalupe River. I need a better camera. I think it's a little big. Right click (PC) control click (Mac) and open in new window.
For those in the 'City" you'll have to get a little ways out.
For the next one: Find a cow or horse or even deer or any game grazing.
-
Phil
How about Baaaa, Baaaa, Baaaa ?
-
Phil
How about Baaaa, Baaaa, Baaaa ?
When was that picture taken?
-
Works for me Singhg. You obviously took the pic. Times not important to me, but not sure of Slider's rules.

Here you go. I know I know, its not original. I am just trying to revive this thread.
Next TAG: Bullet at a roadside fruit/produce/etc vendor/stand.
-
That is truly a babe on a bullet, now where did I see that produce stand?
-
That's our very own Bug_Catcher isn't it?
-
Here you go. I know I know, its not original. I am just trying to revive this thread.

Flag on the play here... ;D
I believe the rule is you can not use stock photos, unless you hussled out and got the picture inside of 50 minutes I believe this is a foul...
Otherwise I could just post this picture...

-
Rules???? we don't need no stink'n rules!!
ooops, my bad.
-
I've been wanting to take part in this for a long time. After 2 years of truing crankshafts, rebuilding magnetos, etc. I've finally got the old girl running again.
OK. So since someone cried foul against Baird, this was taken today at Lake Hartwell, GA.
Next tag: Bullet next to a covered bridge.
-
Thats a pretty bike.. Love the color...
-
After scraping down through several layers, this is as close as I could match to the original color. Of course it might have been the primer ;D
Andy
-
Resurrecting
a new an old thread.
Same old rules.
Next Tag: A bullet with a rider (in a military uniform/fatigues).
-
oooh ooh gotta get me camera! Wanna WIN Wanna WIN! :P
-
Anyone??? Should I go by the local recruiter? Maybe I should put my old Pcoat on the wife and make her sit on the RE.
-
i'm working on it... the guys were on march when I got there.
-
Do I get bonus points for Canadian military?
Next I want to see your RE at a Garden Centre
-
Does home depot count ?
-
sure.. if it includes the garden centre inthe picture. I figure this one should be fairly easy to get the game rolling again as most of us have to make at least one trip to a garden centre this spring
-
oooh ooh gotta get me camera! Wanna WIN Wanna WIN! :P
Crappy cell phone works for me ;) ;D
-
NOT IT !!!! Next tag a bullet and a sub
marine ;D
-
nice!
the nearest submarine to me I can think of is in Wisconsin, unless you accept submarine sandwiches lol
-
nice!
the nearest submarine to me I can think of is in Wisconsin, unless you accept submarine sandwiches lol
The USS Silversides in Muskegon MI
-
Well, that is a bit closer for me, 400 miles round trip as opposed to 900 miles.
I was thinking of the USS Cobia in Manitowoc WI.
Anyone....
Anyone....
Bueller?
-
There's an art sculpture of a submarine hanging from the ceiling of the tasting room at a winery near where I live. I don't think they'll let me roll my bike in for the picture though.
-
To roll ones Bullet into a tasting room would be bad form indeed.
It must be ridden. ;D
-
There used to be one in Muskogee, OK. Don't know if it's still there. Okie Enfield...Your chance for fame and glory!
Bare
-
mmm seafood submarine sandwich ;D
Next photo challenge...
You need a buzz cut... but not at one of those fru fru hair dressers... no it has to be a picture of an old school barber shop with the striped barber pole and your Enfield.
-
Hmmm, my barber recently moved but I don't recall if he put his pole up at the new digs.. I'll have to check.
-
There used to be one in Muskogee, OK. Don't know if it's still there. Okie Enfield...Your chance for fame and glory!
Bare
That would be the USS BATFISH...still there..had a buddy who drew that cheese shore duty while I was a squid.....on to the barber shop.
-
Next photo challenge...

Yeah, got it !
Next challenge - Lady in Red and your RE :D !
-
.
-
a man of few words....
-
I realize the submarine shot is finished but I was going to post this one.
After taking the picture I got to picturing one of you riding 90 miles to get a picture of a real submarine and how pissed you'd be after all of your work to have me post this.
Anyway, what's next?
-
Nice work. :P I think you get to call it because you won that round.
-
I think singhg5's Lady In Red is next?
-
I think singhg5's Lady In Red is next?
Change it to "Red Ferrari and your RE".
-
there ain't a ferrari in this county.
-
When I went to the Italian Car/Motorcycle show a few months ago there must have been at least 8 Red Ferrari's there including a Dino like Magnum drove around in in the Magnum PI TV series.
My problem in finding one now stems from the fact that the people who own these things don't leave them sitting out in their driveway for all the world to see.
I wonder why that is? ???
You don't think someone might try to "borrow" it for a joy ride do you? ;D
-
There are tons in high end beach resort areas on the weekends all around the country. L.A., Miami and the like. Just follow the trail of Viagra and fresh divorce paperwork. Did I say that out loud?
-
Bugger. I just finished digging through my 4 year old son's toy car collection. Not a single red ferrari.
-
I could've taken a ride to the Newport Beach Ferrari dealer, but this is quicker and I was planning to go to San Bernaghetto instead. Gotta go say "hi" to my dealer.
Bare
-

Bare
Awesome picture and Ferrari :D ! What is the next challenge, Bare ?
-
we are all waiting with cameras an enfields at the ready
-
I have my Enfield back and I'm ready to play!
-
I went down to the Ferrari dealer after all. No Red Ferraris sitting out.
How about a shot with an Enfield next to a Blimp or Dirigible Hangar? Or if you can't find a hangar, just a Blimp and Enfield. I know that makes it tough on a lot of guys, but there are still a few around the country, but the blimps go all over the place. That should be an interesting contrast. I won't enter this one!
Bare
-
If I can get my wife to stand next to my G5 for a picture, does that count? :D
-
It should.
-
Probably safer if you tell her it's the lady in red shot ;) I got the dirigible hanger shot if no one beats me to it!
-
My neighbors think im nuts for some reason...
next up for a challenge... YOUR ENFIELD AND A HEARSE. As I'm a funeral director by trade I can't post my own pic... lol.
-
THAT'S fantastic!
You may be dissapointed though if you ride to the local market and 6 people walk up to you from across the parking lot and the only thing that's mentioned is, "Where did you get that neat motorcycle? I haven't seen one of those BSA's for at least 50 years!" :D
I'm still trying to figure out why "ROYAL ENFIELD" written on both sides of the fuel tank doesn't seem to register with these folks. ???
-
Him:
Wow ! that's cool what is it ?
Me;
A Royal Enfield Bullet.
Hi;
Cool who makes it ?
Me;
Royal Enfield
Him;
No, who makes it ?
Me; pointing to fuel tank
Royal Enfield
Him;
Is that by Harley?
Me;
No, I meted down old truck pistons and cast the engine cases in my back yard and hand formed the body panels from old Volkswagen fenders and made the frame from a wrecked air plane.
Him;
Wow ! you should be on a T.V. show !
Me;
I don't look good enough on camera,,,,,gotta run have a nice day.
-
(http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h165/thegarbone/1995%20RE%20500/IMG_6816.jpg)
Even got a period correct hearse.
Usually they park it closer to the road but no such luck today.
How about your bike with a News Van or Truck. One of those with a mast or dish or some such. Should be pretty easy, bonus points for the picture being a protest or with a news anchor in the photo..
-
Desi Bike, Nice shot, Does it help in keeping the rubber side down?
Bare
-
Got the local community college news motor home haha.
Next one this might be tricky... I guess we will see. Your bike and an ice cream truck.
-
Ahh, you beat me to it..
Mine is from the home of bussed in outrage. Sanford city hall. I got 3 in action with accompanied dirty looks due to my goldie exhaust. Did not stick around as I don't want a run in with the po-po.
Ice Cream.. Yum...
-
my semester is over in exactly one week and i am soooo gonna dominate this game, see ya then
Paul
-
Looks like I chose something a bit too odd. How about your RE with an airplane. Bonus points if its only got one engine.
-
I'll take the bonus points!
Next challenge, your Enfield on a one lane bridge. Bonus points if it's a covered bridge. Watch out for traffic!
-
Next challenge, your Enfield on a one lane bridge.
I really like the color of your bike and beautiful picture of a plane behind it !
Here is my G5 on a single lane bridge.
Next challenge - your RE with a tractor.
-
Singh beat me to the bridge. There's a covered bridge a mile from my house! Here's my tractor shot. Next challenge: a reptile on your bike or near enough to see the bike and what kind of reptile it is.
-
I have to steal the bonus point anyway ;D
-
Beers to you br. jartist ;D
This thread is FANTASTIC !!!!!
-
Glad you got the tractor one. I was having a hard time trying to decide whether to take the bike to the tractor shed or the tractor to the garage. ;D
Hmmm. Maybe there's a snake in the tractor shed.
-
maybe I can grab one of the lizards that live in out yard and get him to sit on the bike for awhile.
Bare
-
I have not less than 6 lizards living on/in the concrete block walls around my back yard but try as I may they aren't willing to hop down and climb up on my G5.
They keep saying stupid things like, "You just want to eat us! You and those damn cats!"
-
I went out yesterday and tried to catch one of the damn things in my back yard. Being 90 out they are fast as greased lightening. Near impossible to catch.
Lucky for me at work I have access to dead an mummified lizards in our equiptment cabinets. So here we go.
No mention that the lizard had to be living.
Next find, your bike in a Harley Davidson dealership parking =, bonus points if it is on the showroom floor with you on it.
-
bugger. just on my way out to my friends place to sit his three foot iguana on my bike. oh well, off to the Harley dealer lol
-
Nice one Garbone! He looks like a little deep-fried snack! It must be lunch time.
-
couldn't get the bike in, but the sales guy took my picture...lol
... next I want to see your bike and a llama or alpaca.
-
Hope you showed the Harley guy how the neat kick starter thingie that's on RE's works.
They all eat their hearts out when they see good old fashioned stuff like that. ;D
-
lol, you bet. The way he set me up for the picture is the same way they position new Harleys and their owners upon delivery. The dealer is Motorsport Harley in Sarnia, ontariowww.sarniaharleydavidson.com. Its,on the border of Michigan and ontario.
nice guys there, Ray even set me up with a ride schedule for local ride nights.
-
All that chrome sure looks nice!!!
-
So, Garbone, would a dead dryed up lizard be called 'a reptile dysfunction'?
-
Good grief
:D ;D :D
-

LOL, I guess its a good thing I did not get that to quickly.. I see what you did there... ;)
-
LOL, I guess its a good thing I did not get that to quickly.. I see what you did there... ;)
this is sum funny shit....
-
i'm going to give this until Monday to let everyone try and find a llama or alpaca to take their picture with. Failing that I have another tag on mind, but you'll have to wait and try to find one of our furry friends first.
-
Nearest registered Alpaca or Llama farm is over 90 miles away. I had a neighbor who raised alpine goats a few years back.
-
I saw some llamas in a field recently on a ride. Don't remember where they were. Drat :(
Bare
-
Thought that I remembered seeing some alpacas in a field so rode 65 miles today. Only thing in the field was grass. :'(
-
I saw a few myself earlier this week, but they where fenced in a few acres back from the road. I thought about going cross country on the bike for a pic, but I was sure the owners wouldn't appreciate seeing me do that. :)
-

No they wouldn't but we would ! ;D

I've been soo close on some of these pics that I really did think about it. I had an airplane lined up, a farmer that lived near my parents had a small single engine he used to fly around. He would take off & land from the road in front of his house. He passed away some time ago and his kids left the plane right where it sat. Eventually a small tree grew right up thru it. It would have been perfect, but the day I needed the shot it snowed. Then the reptile, I stopped by a river I often ride along, and I picked up a baby snapping turtle that was in a small pool of water right by my feet. He was half dollar size, and I was too late with the pic. I also rode 60 miles one day last week looking for a single lane bridge, swearing I knew right where it was at. It got dark and I gave up. When I saw the llamas I almost couldn't resist, lol.
-
I was riding my Triumph on some back roads in Virginia the other day along with a few friends and we were having some trouble matching the map to the roads. Came around a corner and thre was a camel in a field. The thing was about 10' tall. That's when I new that we had finally found "that place" in Egypt. :D
-
I rode out to the farm and they were all lying down! Usually they're hanging out by the fence...
If you look closely you can see a few.
:)
-
Love the bike! So what's the next challenge?
-
How about your Enfield next to an Indian Food restaurant? Bring me back a samosa while you're there.
-
I not only got the restaurant, but the owner came out to chat about the Enfield! He didn't know they were available over here. His son took the picture
Next stop, a restaurant that has been featured on Triple D (DIners,Drive-ins & Dives on the Food network)

That site has a very limited range. However, if you click on the little blue "Diner,Driveins and Dives" under the facebook icons that will take you to the listing for the whole US by state.

At El CHORRO on Lincoln Drive.
I've never eaten at EL CHORRO but based on its location, the type of cars that were in the parking area and the $5.00 parking fee I don't think I could even afford the free corn chips the Mexican restaurants always put on the table for munching.
The next quest is a Railroad Station.
-
sorry its grainy... its late o'clock... this is the passenger platform at the rail station in Chatham,.Ontario....
Next quest.... "fish"... one word "fish" .. interpret it as you wish....
-
Could be the word fish, could be a fish, could be someone that sells fish, or someone catching fish....
Anyone....
Anyone....
Buelller?
-
I got "Fish" in this one, has a few extra words, though.
Nest, a steam engine, train or otherwise
Bare
-
Nest, a steam engine, train or otherwise
That was easy.
Need to have a real challenging tag - Next one is RE with an elephant (real, not toy) or RE and full moon.
Let us see who gets it this time - May be someone riding a RE on the roads of an Indian small town with a variety of animals accompanying to complete the journey :D.
-
That wasn't a steam engine! This was a bit tougher than that.
Bare
-
That wasn't a steam engine! This was a bit tougher than that.
Bare:
I misunderstood and thought you want a train with steam engine or otherwise (without steam engine). Consider my post is cancelled and void.
We go back to YOUR tag STEAM ENGINE with or without train attached to it ! I guess that is what you meant ;).
-
steam engine I can do... but where the frig was I gonna find a willing real live heffalump in southern ontario... lol.
-
One Steam Locomotive (and cars) coming up.
These pictures were taken at McCormick Railroad Park in Scottsdale, Az.
This park has a lot of railroad memorabilia.
The station that is just visible in one of the photos is a replica of a station that was in Clifton, Az back in the days of steam.
Another railroad station on the grounds was built in 1895 in Peoria, Az. It was totally dismantled and reconstructed on site at the park.
The park also has a small train for kids and their grownups to ride, an old restored wooden carousel and the local railroad clubs are building layouts in a new building that was built just for them. The layout scales are N, HO and O gauge.
The locomotive is a Baldwin that was built in 1907 and used on the Magma Copper mines railroad in Southern Arizona. It was used for 54 years before being retired.
Behind the locomotive is the Roald Amundsen Pullman car.
"What the hell is that?" you ask.
This car has a place in history and you may find this little video interesting.
http://www.therailroadpark.com/exhibits/exhibits1
This Railroad park is free and the prices of the rides are reasonable.
Anyone visiting the Scottsdale area who is interested in trains or has kids with them should spend a few hours visiting here.
The next quest is at the entrance of a Zoo or Wild Animal Park.
-
wow. that place looks neat.
A couple of years back I was in Pheonix and was quite surprised when I turned a corner and saw an old Toronto Transit Commission street car from the 1930's.. How it ended up in downtown Phoenix Arizona it's beyond me.
My plan for the steam train shot was to park next to the Spirt of Windsor steam train on display in a park on the river front between Windsor and Detroit on my way to work tomorrow morning. I might even still post the picture. it's been a couple if days since I went for a ride on Miss Bling. No zoos on the route to work unfortunately...
-
I don't know about the others but I always enjoy seeing pictures of steam locomotives.
Good engineering from the old days, kinda like the Royal Enfield Bullets. :)
-
No zoos on the route to work unfortunately...
The entrance to WHERE I work oughta count. ;D

@Arizoni:
If you like to see steam engines, here are two pictures from me. The first engine was inside garage for repairs, and the second was on the tracks in the background of my motorcycle.
You had beaten me by about an hour ;). so I had not posted them.
-
Thanks for posting them. :)
By the way. If those are little tiny wide angle mirrors stuck to your mirrors I like the idea. I'll have to look around and see if I can find some for my bike.
-
. How it ended up in downtown Phoenix Arizona it's beyond me.
probably the same way the London bridge ended up in lake Havasu
these southweterners must be half pack rat
-
Thanks for posting them. :)

Yes they are small mirrors, bought them from Cycle Gear Store in New Jersey.

On my way to the Zoo I was cutting down some back roads and saw this guy, Not an alpaca...

Did make it to the Zoo also..

Since this is Mothers Day weekend I think the next photo has some "Mother" involvement. This is to be pretty open ended and since it is easy the picture can be challenged within 24 hours if you think yours is more creative or humorous.
-
That's too easy.
These are my wife's daughters. They are mothers.
Next-a British Sports Car with the Enfield
Bare
-
here's your loco pic bare... The spirit of Windsor... built in 1911 for CNR in Montreal... Detroit skyline in the background. saw a couple of jaguars on the way home but it's hardly a sports car.
-
Beautiful engine!
Down here in the States we would call that a "Pacific", with 4 pilot wheels, 6 drivers and 2 trailing wheels. An excellent passenger locomotive.
One of the things that boggles my mind is the numbers of engines that were made.
Baldwin for instance built 2655 locomotives in 1907, but I've gotten off the subject.
Back to the Games! :)
-

My Royal Enfield with several British sports cars.
I took the one with the red Lotus because it was the only British sports car at the car show when I arrived.
Later a local Triumph Club arrived with several Triumph TR 7's and one Triumph 250. Of course I had to take a picture of those but when the TR 3 arrived, THAT had to be the one! :)
Bit of nostalgic Tradition, don't you know? :)
The next Quest?
A Roadside Diner. Bonus points if it says "CAFE" on the front.
-
all I could find was a Morris Minor converted into a restaurant's menu board out front of the place... good job.
-
The TR3, the stuff that we wished for! The Lotus is cool, but I prefer the older stuff. COuld be why I ride an Enfield
The pictures - The famous Rock Store, looking bare during the week when it's closeo. It says Diner instead of Cafe
Next - Scenic shot on an old decrepit road. LA area freeways don't count!
Bare
-
Well, I resisted the easy steal of going to Detroit... lol.
Here is my decrepit road. This is my bike on the starting line of the Windsor dragway, closed and abandoned in the early 60's.
I showed you a track... now you show me the cars that race. Your Enfield and a race car. Oval, straight line or what ever... but it has to be a real car, no toys.
-
down the track....
-
Very cool picture.
-
Road less traveled.
-
Time is running low for a picture of your Enfield and a racing car.
-
How about a B class roadster?
This car had several photos on a display board showing it coming off the line at a drag strip with both of its front wheels in the air, about a foot off of the tarmac.
It said the car was running in the low 10's.
Next quest: Your RE with an old style Volkswagen Beetle. (The old air cooled kind).
-
works for me... thanks Jim
-
I parked my RE next to a guy at work with a 69 bug. He would enter it in the daily driver class at the meets, last year he got 2nd place at Pasco (largest on east coast). Just sold the bug two weeks ago and got a Westfala van. :-\
-
This old veedub has been sitting beside the house down the road from my work.
Speaking of work, I have to wear a three piece suit every day. So now its your turn. Next challenge should be easy.
'You in a suit and tie and your enfield'
-
I'm not sure where it is but I think there's something in the Arizona Constitution that outlaws those things. ;)
A number of years ago I tried to convince my wife that this was true but she (being a red head) wouldn't listen to reason. She forced me to violate this Constitutional Right not to own or have to wear such a device so, somewhere I have one. :(
I'm not going to take a chance and give Sheriff Joe Arpaio the photographic evidence he needs to throw my butt into his "tent city" jail.
109 degrees F with no coolers and his green bologna sandwiches is too high a price to pay to win a phototag game. ;)
Sorry.
-
chicken. :P
-
Would a cape work?
-
oh I do hope you'd have on more than just a cape
-
Bulleteers must be more of the rocker types than mods! We should make an exception to the rule and let Desi win his own challenge with his three piece suit!
-
Well, I guess no-one else owns a suit except for me lol... This is,my parking spot at work... I look fat in this suit, must be the camera angle. Oh, and just to the left of me is that blue house, its on this driveway that the vw is sitting.
I am going to expire this challenge and change it to your Royal Enfield and a clock tower.o it.
-
Very nice.
Clock tower I can do except for its raining at the moment.
-
Lookin' pretty good there Desi! :)
The bike, not you in that silly suit!** ;D ;)
Clock towers..... hmmmmm......... nope. Can't think of a clock tower around here.
There is the 2nd largest sundial in the world out in Carefree about 20 miles North of me but that won't cut it, I'm sure. :(
** This is where my wife would cuff me alongside the head and say, "I think he looks very distinguished in that suit.
You should wear your suit too.
Then you could look nice like Desi does." cuff! cuff!
-
Here's the Santa Cruz, CA clock tower on my way to work. Next challenge, your bike and a factory. Not a small box of a building but one with pipes and stacks, bonus if it's a brick building.
-
LOL I work at a factory but it's one of those box buildings you said no to. :D
-
We have a power plant, does that count?
-
Nice shot jar!
I'm in the cage for a few days so I can't nail this one. Less than a mile from me I'd the chrysler minivan assembly plant. Arrrg.
-
Here is a picture of my G5 parked just outside the fence at the company I worked for 39 1/2 years.
Although there are no smoke stacks as one normally thinks of them the two giant mufflers on top of the building on the right have been known to occasionally pour out a good cloud.
These are the exhaust for the High Altitude Test Chamber which is used to test the jet engines and Auxiliary Power units that Honeywell builds at this plant.
The chamber is about 15 feet in diameter and 35 feet long. It can replicate altitudes of 40,000 feet at temperatures down to -40 degrees F.
Not only do the jet engines have be tested to operate under these conditions the APU's must be tested to run, then be shut down and cold soaked at -40 degrees F for over an hour and then restart without a problem, all at an elevation of 35,000+ feet.
These tests duplicate what would happen if the plane had a MEF (main engine failure) and flamed out.
If this happens, the APU must start and take on the load of supplying all heating & cooling, electrical power, hydraulic power and bleed air to restart the non-working engine. That allows the pilot to unload the remaining jet engine(s) of these tasks so it can be used only to keep the airplane up.
These restarts must be successful in less than a minute and with some military applications the restarts must not take longer than a few seconds.
Needless to say, starting a frozen gas turbine engine at 40,000 feet elevation isn't an easy task.
In order for a twin engine commercial aircraft to be approved for any flight over the ocean its APU must repeatedly pass these tests.
The smoke I mentioned? Well, once in a while a main oil seal will crack because of the thermal change from -40 degrees to + 1200 degrees in just a few seconds and dump oil into the unit. Even with air pressure buffering across the seals sometimes the oil has a sneaky way of getting thru.
The large white tank standing on its end on the left side of the photo stores liquid nitrogen which is used in the cooling system of the chamber.
The rectangular box sticking up is the air inlet for the chamber.
Unfortunately, most of the manufacturing of the hardware is no longer done at this plant although all of the gears are still made here.
These gears have extremely tight tolerances, critical heat treatments and other things that outside suppliers just can't do. After all, some of these gears are running at up to 100,000 rpm and must do this for several thousand hours without developing a problem.
The actual engines are constructed by hand in several buildings to the left of this picture.
The next quest? Your Royal Enfield and a red International Harvester tractor.
-
Amazing stuff, Arizoni! I've always appreciated having a jet engineer's expertise on this site!
-
no silly, jets have pilots, choo choo trains have engineers ;D
-
Did someone say choo choo trains?
-
Are they jet powered? ;D
-
Nice write up Ariz.
Now where the hell am I going to get a tractor like that!
-
Seems like I've seen a few antique Farmall tractors around... If I can only remember where!?
-
I found one! Not exactly as old as I was going for but vintage, nonetheless. Next, your bike and a lighthouse.
-
Good show! I went out hunting for one today over in the cow country. I only saw 3 red tractors, a couple of Masseys and a Kubota. I thought all International Harvesters were antiques!
Then I decided to hell with it and went to the Yanks Airplane Museum instead. A couple of newies there, an FJ-1 Fury in particular. Supposed to be 1 of 2 left in the world.
Lighthouses are easier to come by!
Bare
Bare

um...guess those of us in landlocked states can just suck it...lol ;D

I'll take a river ATON if you live too far from the sea.
-
I live only a few miles from a lighthouse, but it's way too hot for me to ride. How about a poor photoshop job? ;)
-
To hot, the man says?
Right now it is 108*F outside and I'm getting ready to make a 10 mile ride over to a car show. It'll will probably cool down to a nice 103 after the sun sets making the ride home very pleasant. :)
-

But it's a dry heat ;D and yes it does make a difference. 90*F with high humidity is unbearable. :-[ but 125F in THE desert isn't too bad ;D
-
Thanks fur the morning ride.... Hit this one up on my way to work, with only a twenty minute 'detour'
Now for okie and all the rest of the land locked... An easier one. Your enfield and a pay telephone booth.
-
Nice picture! It was good of them to paint the lighthouse the same color as your bike! Is that on the detroit river?
-
OOo one I can do:
-
I suppose a new task...
Enfield with the BEST beard!
-
If I start putting Rogaine on my Enfield how long will it take to grow one?
It's not could enough to stick its nose outside and run up some icicles! ;D
Bare
-
Bwahahahaha!
Just kidding... It was the first thing that came to mind.... :P
-
HILARIOUS!!!
-
Nice picture! It was good of them to paint the lighthouse the same color as your bike! Is that on the detroit river?
The light house is the second oldest one in Ontario and stands at the end of the Thames River where it enters Lake St. Clair in the villiage called Lighthouse Cove. Built in 1818, it measures 4 feet thick at the base tapering to 2 feet thick at the top. In 1867, the lantern room was raised to increase the lights range. This addition brought the lighthouse to it's current height of 55 feet. You can see where the addition started with a stone ring marking the original height. Originally a large brass kerosene lantern omitted a revolving beacon visible for 12 miles (19km). The lantern was replaced in 1963 with an electric beacon.
Now decomissioned and sits on private property, it has been replaced by one of those newfangled steel frame blinkin' lights.
-
Desi That's brilliant!!! ;D ;D ;D
But theres no way mine is the best beard!
-
Bwahahahaha!
Just kidding... It was the first thing that came to mind.... :P
I just peed a little!
-
I think you win Desi, what's next?
-
so what is the current task?
-
Bus depot... And your RE. Not a bus terminal, but where buses live and get serviced.
-
Time is ticking away on this one.
-
theres one 6 blocks from my house, but my bike is still being repaired :'(
-
Here's my local bus depot. Not too exciting but very new and expensive to build. You can see the natural gas tank for refueling the buses.
Next challenge, your enfield at a golf course parked on the grass. Make it kind of high brow if possible. :P
-
Bonus points for getting a shot on a putting green.
(Your "luggage rack" is awesome, jartist).
-
It sounds like someone is trying to get me arrested.
I live within 5 miles of the Arizona Biltmore Country Club, the Phoenician Golf Club, the Phoenix Country Club, the Arizona Country Club and the Papago Municipal Golf Course, all (with the possible exception of the Papago) world renowned and equally costly to play.
I might be tempted to park next to one of these for a picture but no way am I going to try to ride my bike onto one of their greens. ;D
-
damn, I live across the street from a school bus depot but i broke my camera. that would have been low hanging fruit.
-
(Your "luggage rack" is awesome, jartist).
Thanks! Nothing beats a milk crate for utility! Two bags of groceries no sweat! :P
-
I forgot about the "parked on the grass" requirement but I had a hell of a time convincing the course employee that parking on the driveway for 2 minutes for a photo wouldn't cause the world to stop spinning or the locust to descend on and eat all of the grass on their precious golf course.
I think the employees at high priced golf courses have a very small sense of humor.
This was photographed at Arizona Biltmore Country Club next to the office where you can spend a small fortune for the privilege of chasing a small white ball all over their 18 hole course.
The little putting area next to the bike where you see guys practicing is about the limit for my golfing abilities.
Sense I didn't have the bike on the grass I'll let someone else try to claim this tag.
If no one else wants it after a few days, the next challenge is your RE at the entrance of a Amusement Park.
-
You're second shot is brochure worthy! I love it!
-
I thought I'd give someone else a chance but I couldn't resist. Next challenge is an old fashion single room schoolhouse.
-
Ha, beat me by minutes!
A pretty big mini golf course, laser tag, arcade and waterslide.
Bare
-
This is one of three in my town. (Stillwater NJ) Its a private residence now. How about a grist mill next
-
This is Bunge Milling in Chatham, Ontario. Its a grist mill, a modern one. Sadly the mill was closed by the head office somwhere in 2007. A new company bought it and built a new office section on the front and is going to begin milling corn and grains again soon. Corn in the area generally goes to the ethanol plant.
Next quest.... Bait and Tackle and your RE. Could be a store a sign a worm on a hook. Have fun.
-
THIS THREAD IS FANTASTIC DONT STOP!
soon as i get my military picked up im gonna start grabbing pics with you guys
-
Does riding my enfield without my pants on count? ;D
-
haha... as long as your worm is on a hook bwahahaha
-
haha... as long as your worm is on a hook bwahahaha
I think they're doing that these days. ::) Off to the local body piercing shop!
-
I go pick up my RE tomorow you guys are gonna get beat to the "bait and tackle" if you dont hurry
-
I went out looking the other day, but I can't find any of those in urban/suburban SoCal. Tried the little fishing lakes and stuff, no luck. Had to settle for trying Kenyan food.
Bare
-
Leaving to pick my C5 up finally not finished still waiting on parts but RIDEABLE! ;D ill be posting a bait and tackle photo shortly
-
We are waiting with baited breath... Oh and I've heard tell of someone holding their tackle... Haha
-
I hope NCH didn't wipe out on the way to the bait & tackle shop. There's one down the street from me but I've been deliberately holding off... ;D
-
Well I hope NCH made it OK but I ride past this place every day going to work and couldn't resist. Had to come in and check the plant today anyway so rode the Enfield.
To keep in the fishing theme - next challenge your Enfield on a dock.
Andy
-
Thanks everyone for thinking of me. Saturday I got my bike and was having so much fun riding it I never went home to get the camera! anyway off to find a dock!
-
Me and my beloved C5 military at Williamstown lake KY
-
Next Challenge your RE and something military it can be an old tank a statue of a soldier anything creative. No national guard bases. Bonus points to WWII stuff
-
Just noticing your signature now... a Duc 848 + a new RE? I like your style. 8)
-
Thanks being single with no kids gives me alot of wiggle room in the finance department. Sandwiches for lunch and dinner and just skip breakfast!

A B-17 at Chino.
Next, A genuine hot dog stand. No Weinerschnitzel, Sonic or other chains.

Next, A genuine hot dog stand.
Like a street vendor's cart? Hmmmmmmmmmm.... I think I have an idea....

Pretty ultimate hot dog stand.
Bare

no ones gotten it yet can we change it bare?

Since my bike is temporarily AOG, I can't run down to the local hotdog stand to get a pic, how about an airplane in a pole, or other elevated stand.

Two spitfires and one RE. Jackson Park in Windsor Ontario. I was sitting in a cafe less than five blocks from the park when Bare put that challenge up. Haha.
Next challenge.. We've all had to wait for the UPS delivery guy at one time or another... Now show me his brown van and your Enfield.
-
That's awesome! They need to put more machines on poles!
-
There used to be a Lancaster between them on a higher pole but it was taken down a few years ago to be restored for museum display.
-
hehe ;D only a matter of time now ups truck and one green military coming up!!
awesome pic desi!
-
Here is a UPS truck and my RE.
Next one is your RE and a Canadian flag, since it is the Canada Day long weekend.
-
What the heck is with my photos and them not being posted in the right orientation, sideways, upside down?
-
DOH! i forgot to take a pic OK tomorrow defiantly getting one! >:(
-
What the heck is with my photos and them not being posted in the right orientation, sideways, upside down?
try taking the pictures in landscape format or cropping them to landscape format.
What is our next quest?
-
It seems that I missed on the great hot dog hunt. But here is my late entry anyway. My bike in front of Walter's in Mamaroneck, NY. And the historical what not sign.
-
Next one is your RE and a Canadian flag, since it is the Canada Day long weekend.
-
But the Sptifire one has a Canadian flag in it, so done already! ;D
-
Actually that is the RCAF Ensign. I would have given bonus points it was the Canadian Red Ensign. Which would have been the flag flown when the Spitfires were flying.
-
They need to put more machines on poles!
Sigfile...
-
my re and the ups truck i promised. Bonus points to me for getting the driver!
-
I think we're on the Canadian flag now. National, it looks like you're missing the bolt on the brake plate in that picture.
-
Talk about eagle eyes! but your right.
The hex nut and washer that goes on the rear brake plate stud to secure it to the swing arm is missing.
That needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
That's a 12mm X 1.25mm nut acording to the Servce Manual Parts List.
-
wow guys talk about scrutiny! Im gonna go get a nut for it today. Cant thank you enough for seeing that!
-
It seems the Canadian Flag isn't going to happen. So I'll change it to your RE at a Fish and Chips shop.
-
I could do the Canada flag, but not until Saturday. Its an hour ride from here, but I'll be right near it in Saturday. Go ahead with the Chippie, I'll post my flag shot just for kicks once I get it
-
If nobody gets the chippie by Saturday you could order some to go and include it in your flag photo :P
-
The Fish & Chips place is no problem for me. In fact I can walk to it in less than 10 minutes from my front door.
I'm just waiting for one of you more adventuresome chaps to brave the wilderness and photograph your steed at your local F&C place.
-
But I don't *have* a local F&C place...
-
We have loads and loads, but I'm half way through changing my wheels! Doh!!!
-
in bodega bay....
next photo in front of a 1 room schoolhouse
-
Here's the canada flag shot. This guys house has been like this for decades.
-
desi call the next photo
-
There used to be a Lancaster between them on a higher pole but it was taken down a few years ago to be restored for museum display.
Found the Lancaster today... Enjoy.
Ok since motorat asked me to do the next challenge... so here it is.... Your Enfield is built like a brick sh*thouse... So show us your enfield and a brick sh*it house.
-
In the hangar
-
No one can find public toilets eh?
-
i know of a few but they are on the coast at camp grounds and i can't get there until the weekend.
-
I finally got my lighting wiring done and I was going out today to take the Brick Sh*t House shot, but discovered my fuel tank is leaking. There's a pinhole at the corner of Rear Tank Mount St. and Bottom of Tank Ave. Gotta get it welded Saturday.
So far life is sucking this month. My beast has been down since about the first! I'm getting that itchy, twitchy feeling, and nothing I can do about it! Gotta get the GB roadable! :(
Bare
-
Ahh, the brick shit houses of the world are conspiring against us. I too started on a ride to get said picture and ran into motor issues.
-
Not sure if this qualifies for brick s**t house,as its a stone one.My mother-in -law refers to it as Ivy Cottage. Those were the days!Scuse my QH getting her nose in the way.Boo
-
Very good. Looks like the lintel is about to give it up.
What is to be the next picture?
-
That works for me bikerboo!. Give the qh a nose rub for me. You get to pick the next challenge.
-
what's the next shot.....i was out today stopping at random things and taking pics...no time during the week.

OK Lads, have been a busy girl all night slaving over my hot analysers and trying to think of next phototag. So as its Sunday, how about Royal Enfield and a Church/Chapel.Bonus points if you get a Vicar as well.Have fun,I'm off to bed.Boo.
-
Man, Sunday is not a day to take a picture of a church. Parking lots are full, people wandering around and they were having a car wash in the parking lot where I wanted to take the pic. Definitely not fine art, but you deal with what there is!
Next , good old country-style water tower, bonus for wood construction.
Bare
-
you beat me to it...i waited for church to let out. the first and third are the church and the third has the church and school from "the birds"
-
Nice work Guys, love the art photo Bare.Glad to hear your churches are full of folks on a Sunday! Boo.
-
Boo,
I had to change the church picture above. It didn't look that arty before.
Bare
-
these water towers are getting harder to find, you know with that new fangled electricity and all. i found 2 that had a tower but no bucket on top.
this one is complete but it had been converted to a cell tower.
-
So true about the wood water towers being gone! I rode up the Salinas Valley where there were many when I was a kid but they've all rotted away and blown off the towers. Hardly any windmills left either. There are a few towers converted to small apartments that are left but that's about it. Motorat, what's next?
-
next pic....
your scoot infront of a old school house.....1 room school house if possible
-
Check page 17, one room school house has been done.
-
how about old rusted farm equiptment?
-
Ha, beginning to think I was going to have to go down the street and get my local water tower!
Bare
-
Found a whole field full of them. Next challenge... Your RE and a crane.
-
I went for a ride to take a picture of a crane. I went by the lake, but they must've left for the summer, or they were off for a nooner!
So I guess you'll have to settle for this.
Next, an Enfield by an Oil field.
Bare
-
Does the one in my parking spot under the Enfield count?
-
Does the one in my parking spot under the Enfield count?
Almost, but no cigar!
Bare
-
I get the bike going again after a couple of weeks work and we get "Oil Head"!!!
Not many of them over here. Hope this one goes quick! :o
-
how about the stuff in the corner of my garage that has not made it to the recycler yet?
-
I'll give you the weekend. I want one of those dipping headed bird thingies.
Bare
-
DOH! I read that as dipping the headlights and nearly posted this:
-
Is that what I think it is..A truck with a small boat in the back..No snorkel on the truck and two guys with a Enfield riding look on their face..
-
No.
It's an Alvis Stalwart. Amphibious truck. I went to the War and Peace show last week. It's the largest military show in the world. And full of toys!
Sorry I'm off thread here. But I'll put a bike to try to make up for it.
-
I'll give you the weekend. I want one of those dipping headed bird thingies.
Bare
Can't wait for someone to post a picture so that I can find out what a "dipping headed bird thingy" is. ;D
-
Got plans tonight.. I'll get the shot tomorrow.
-
so is the chain to stop someone from taking the bike or the generator?
-
You have to chop two chains to get the bike loose, only one for the generator. Guess which one in more important.
Bare
-
Can't wait for someone to post a picture so that I can find out what a "dipping headed bird thingy" is. ;D
http://www.scientificsonline.com/famous-drinking-bird.html
-
That's the one I as referring to. Those contraptions out in the oil fields look just like that bird! Actually they are the pumps that suck the oil out of the ground.
Bare
-
A bit of off roading to get this shot..lol
Next up... A Nike swoosh advertising and your enfield.
-
Arrrg! Beat me to it! My girlfriend and I found one on the way of our two up ride to Tioga pass.
-
Ehh, just googled it, the closest Nike store is down near Disney in what in my mind is a close approximation of hell on earth. It would be a 2 hour round trip with the bonus of risking death by tourist in rental car. I will pass on this one.
-
Could even be a billboard, newspaper ad, bus shelter ad... Just not the physical logo on a shoe our what ever... Must be in the form of an ad.
-
just read your assingment...so this does not count
-
Nike swoosh
Next, a French restaurant
Bare
-
Swoosh! There it is...
Good job Bare!
-
i even got the owner. he was telling me about his trip to india and seeing all the royal enfields and about his 500 matchless.
next shot...chicken coop with chickens
-
Good pic motorat
-
I just had to push it outside ;) next a abandoned classic car.
-
That hen is ready to ride! elmagnifico, do you have a bigger picture of your avitar?
-
just type "jesus riding a dinosaur" into google images.
note the coloring hints
-
next a abandoned classic car.
Now if I were in Wyoming, I know where a bunch of those are. Kind of a long ride for a photo op!
Now, next door there is an El Camino that keeps getting abandoned in my neighbor's driveway, sometimes for weeks.
Bare
-
I could push my bike over next to my MK 2 Jag in the garage and take a picture, but that would be cheating.
Andy
-
Meh... Give it a shot lol
-
i found an old willys truck, a 63 chevy and a few bmw 2002's.
not sure they are abandoned but i am sure they have not been moved in the past 15years.
-
and the bmw's
-
I think it counts because even if someone can lay claim to those, they have abandoned them! Look at'm... Those poor lil 2000's waisting away! Those trucks are gems too.
-
great pics. whats next :)
-
ok....
how about your bike in front of shrubery shapes...like in edward scissorhands.....it was my daughters call!!!
-
With a little pathway running through the middle ;D
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UbtcmjfKa8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UbtcmjfKa8)
-
love that part of the movie.
i am rodger the shrubber.
-
update!!!!
any shrubbery is acceptable.
one that looks nice, and not too expensive.
now go! NI! NI!
-
I rode around for 100 miles and got to work an hour late on a quest for topiaries and nothing. I know where there are some dinosaur topiaries but it's over an hour away. I googled topiary and didn't come up with anything in my area but there's some good ones on mission hill in san diego. Where's Roger the shrubber when you need him?
-
That's the one I as referring to. Those contraptions out in the oil fields look just like that bird! Actually they are the pumps that suck the oil out of the ground.
Walking-Beam Pump
-
Ok, after several days searching, I finally found some really crappy topiary.
I guess the whole thing is supposed to be a dragon or Loch Ness monster or maybe an earthworm. It's in front of some motel by Disneyland.
Next, a Frat (or sorority) house.
Bare
-
"THE RETURN OF THE NIGHTCRAWLER" !!
I tossed and turned all night after seeing that movie.
Thoughts of the large mouth bass it could catch bouncing thru my head wouldn't leave my mind. ;D
-
I musta missed that one!
Bare
-
Bump.
We don't have them here and it looks like you lot are having difficulty.
Is it worth picking another subject yet?
-
i went out to Sonoma State University on saturday only to find out it was move in week end, ugh, and there are no frat ouses on campus or in the town.
-
I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
ASU (Arizona State University) is nearby. :)
-
looks like i"m racing arizoni then, just picked up my bike from the shop this morning and have to head up to campus tomorow to get her a parking permit, i's probably have better chances if i got out of bed at a reasonable hour:)
Pauly
-
ASU (Arizona State University) is nearby.
[*perk!*]
Hmmm... My show plays a week in Tempe in February....
-
I believe this is an MIT fraternity. Don't let the nerds fool you... those big-brains are probably cooking up some home-made LSD.
Next shot: Something with the word "Enfield" in it that isn't associated with Royal Enfield. No photos of your Enfield Rifles either... you gotta ride for the shot.
-
Nothing wrong with Alpha Delta Phi so congratulations on the picture. :)
As for mine, there aren't any.
What I thought would be a nice simple picture turned out to be a disappointment.
At one time at ASU there was a street named Alpha and it had a bunch of fraternity and sorority houses on it. They even had painted the street with the various Greek frat logos and symbols.
The University in its never ending quest to spend students tuition money building more buildings thought Alpha was an excellent place to build more so they bought the land from the Frats/Sororities and their in the process of flattening every building on the street. :(
I could have taken a lot of pictures of dozens of workers with half torn down buildings in the background but I didn't think the quest was to show a bunch of rubble.
-
Now, this one took awhile. Finding an Enfield sign was somewhat difficult, and especially vexing because I saw an Enfield sign by some farm a couple of weeks before this challenge went up and thought I should take a picture it it. I didn't and I couldn't remember where I saw it. So I started looking online to see what I could find. Locally, nada, but there were sure a lot of Enfield places in Enfield Mass. Commute was GU (Geographically undesirable, had a couple of girlfriends like that.)
The I started looking at street maps and found a couple about 25 miles from here in Huntington Beach. So I was going down last Thursday, Too hot and I was still messing with my throttle cables. Friday, Honeydo day. Saturday, a beautiful day, the wife was in Vegas, so Jack and I went on a real ride up the Crest. The problem cropped up, with my headlight going out, so I as gonna fix them Sunday morning. Watched bike racing and IndyCar racing instead. So Monday morning rolled around and I figured I'd better fix the lights. It was a bad fuse holder so I had to go get another one and Install it. Finally got it back together, so here's Tuesday, still too hot up here, pretty cool in Huntington Beach. So I went on a little 50 miler and here's the pic.
Bare
Next...Your Enfield at a model airplane flying field. Preferably with some flying happening, or at least the bike next to a model.
-
there were sure a lot of Enfield places in Enfield Mass. Commute was GU (Geographically undesirable, had a couple of girlfriends like that.)
;D Too funny. Great shot of the bike. I thought for sure Lwt Big Cheese was gonna get this one.
-
Me too!
But I went away for a few days to a military show.
-
Apparently no takers on the last challenge.
Let's go for an RE and a mosque.
Bare
-
did you know there is a mosque finder thingy on the web.
turns out there was one on my way home.
next tag is something with 1 horse power....preferably a horse
-
next tag is something with 1 horse power....preferably a horse
Damn! And here I am with four full-size horse puppets, and my beloved Fiona on the other end of the country...
-
Here's my 1 hp entry. However I well concede to the horse owner as I'm out of ideas anyway.
Bare
-
A Diesel, no less!
I have a smaller Webra and a .049 McCoy Redhead somewhere around here.
-
I thought that went well with the VDub Diesel thread!
Bare
-
what is the current tag?
-
Still the one horsepower, I guess, I conceded to the horsey set. If nothing comes up in a day or two, I'll dream something up.
Bare
-
Including an actual horse (and I suppose a Zebra would count too). Mules, Donkeys and Ponies are probably a tad underpowered though. No offense to them.
-
Including an actual horse (and I suppose a Zebra would count too). Mules, Donkeys and Ponies are probably a tad underpowered though. No offense to them.
Mules and Donkeys have more torque. ;)
-
This horse was keen to see a G5 across his fence.
-
OK, Singh, What's next?
-
OK, Singh, What's next?
Bare - Something for a Las Vegas resident, RE with Elvis :).
-
Well thats me out - again. :-\
-
I'm just a hunka hunka burnin' love but can't participate in this one as I have no access to my bike right now.
-
i have a cat named elvis....does that count?
-
I'm just a hunka hunka burnin' love but can't participate in this one as I have no access to my bike Elvis right now.
-
No Elvis impersonators in England?
-
What about Elvis Costello?
-
Lwt Big Cheese,
You are not trying hard enough. Call these guys and when they show up, snap a photo and tell them they have the wrong place.
-
Good grief.
-
Singhg5 actually asked for Elvis. Somebody needs to go to Graceland with a shovel. ;D
-
Singhg5 actually asked for Elvis. Somebody needs to go to Graceland with a shovel. ;D
That would be a hunka hunka festering goo. (with sideburns)
-
I was going to a restaurant that has an Elvis show every Friday night, but my wife wants me to go to a HS football game. Damn.
Bare
-
Elvis would have really liked the Royal Enfield Bullet. It's a bike from the age of his early years.
-
Since Elvis is still hiding in his studio and not reachable, let us change him. Whoever first posts a picture of his RE with an interesting feature gets to make the next call.
-
Darn!
I figure my G5 Deluxe would have been a good candidate with that giant black widow spider crawling up onto the seat. I just forgot to take a photo of it before I smashed it. :(
-
Elvis would have really liked the Royal Enfield Bullet. It's a bike from the age of his early years.
Well he could have had one if he wanted. As you say they've been going long enough.
-
Too busy with his Hardleys
Bare
-
Does a milk crate luggage carrier count as an interesting feature? If so the next challenge for all you weekend warriors is your Enfield next to an elevation sign. See if anyone can get this one before barenekd does!
-
Ok, I'm cheating. This is an old picture from 2007. If I went up there today I doubt that you could see the sign! (Weather sucks)
Andy
-
Can we have a new task then.
Preferably one that all nations can do ::)
-
Good shot! Didn't recall the Blue Ridge going that high!
Bare
-
Can we have a new task then.
Preferably one that all nations can do ::)
We would have accepted elevation in meters. We're "cultured" around here ;)
-
Since I cheated, by using an old pic, this one is still up for grabs.
Andy
-
You were the nearest - go for it!
-
Yeah, I think the rules start bending more as the deadline approaches, or passes ;D
-
OK, if you insist. How about something prehistoric such as a stone circle or burial mound. I know they've got them in UK LBC. :D
Andy
-
Doh! Not near here. I'll go and investigate...
-
Looks like you'll have to waste a day and take a ride to Stonehenge.
Bare
-
I've got stuff lined up but it's been raining so hard today it will be impossible to get the bike there. Hopefully it will be drier over the weekend - unless Will beats me to it!
-
The gf and I just got back from merry old England. We rented a motorcycle and rode out to Stonehenge and then Avebury. Such a great time. How I miss clotted cream and pies and all the wonderful old stuff! On the way back we were swimming in the rain. I had to follow the bright colored truck trailers to see where I was going!
-
I scratched my head o think of what to do. Then as I walked the dog not a 1/4 mile from my house I passed this - well I returned later with the bike obviously.
Wikipedia gives:
The remains of a medieval moated homestead in Whomerley Wood is an 80 yard square trench almost 5 feet wide in parts. It was probably the home of Ralph de Homle, and both Roman and later pottery has been found there.
The pics are rubbish as there's not much to see after 600 years!
-
what's the next tag??
-
Not sure if the above pics will be old(or good) enough. So les than a mile away we have something else dead dull. It was very foggy today until past lunchtime so more crappy pics I'm afraid.
This time we have either:
The six hills which occupy prominence in the town are tumuli or Round Barrows dating from the Bronze Age. According to legend the hills are spade fulls of earth taken from Whomerly wood and thrown at the town by a giant (or the Devil) intent on destruction. His last shot went well off mark and knocked the steeple off Gravely Church two miles away.
Unexplained earthworks and standing stones were often seen as the work of the Devil or giants.
or:
The Six Hills are a collection of Roman barrows situated alongside the old Great North Road in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. They are classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument and are protected by law. They form the most complete Roman barrow group in the country. Beside their historical significance, they lend their name to an important thoroughfare in the town (Six Hills Way) and are a local landmark.
-
Re-reading the history I find that the moat in the first pics is where the soil for the second set came from (sort of):
For almost two thousand years, travellers along the Roman road that eventually became the Great North Road have passed these six large mounds. Their origin and purpose has been the subject of much speculation.
Local legend holds that they were the work of the Devil, who, sitting one day looking down on the Great North Road, began to amuse himself by heaving clods of earth at the passers-by. He missed six times and in a temper threw a seventh clod over his shoulder, hitting the spire of Graveley church and knocking it askew. The spire is crooked to this day. The holes in Whomerley Wood show where the Devil dug out his missiles, and the six failed shots lie in a line alongside the road and form the Six Hills.
-
What an interesting spot, and the photos are only better because of the fog. Moody.
Cool pics.
-
If they're acceptable how about:
Your bike and something Jolly or Heart Warming?
-
here is a happy cat sleeping on my luggage rack.
next with a winding/curvy road sign
-
22 minutes! Is that a record!
-
i pulled the bikes out of the garage to do some cleaning and the cats attacked.
-
A pussy attack!! How terrible! ::)
-
Great pics, Cheesy! Your bike in the fog looks like a movie set. You can restore a bike to look all glossy (ho hum) but you can't replicate that petina- I love it!
-
I missed all those signs yesterday because I was thinking this one had been done. So took about a 70 miles ride today to get this one. I know ...I'm so tortured!
Next up, at a race track
Oops, did race tracks, Jack found a couple of thongs hanging in a tree, that could've been an interesting subject.
How about a cornerstone plaque on a building
Bare
-
does STYX cornerstone quallify??
-
Lol..... Great album.
-
Doesn't look like a plaque on a building to me. Nice try, though.
Bare
-
Ok, I guess no one can find a building with a plaque on it. Let's got for a cemetery headstone from the 1800s or older.
Bare
-
There's some good cemeteries in town with old oaks and Spanish moss and ambiance but I don't think I'd get away with thumping into the cemetery grounds!
-
Boo ha, ha, ha.
That's what I was thinking.
Somehow I can picture my RE and me in the middle of a cemetery with 40 lawn keepers with rakes and shovels waving in the air and 20 power lawn mowers converging on me from all directions.
Of course in my area they will all be screaming in Spanish so I won't know what their saying. Even so, I'm sure I will be putting my 28 horsepower to good use. ;D
-
Somehow I can picture my RE and me in the middle of a cemetery with 40 lawn keepers with rakes and shovels waving in the air and 20 power lawn mowers converging on me from all directions.
Zombie grounds keepers? Sounds like a Peter Jackson movie!
-
If I lived on the east coast, as in Boston, I'd drive up to one of these street side graveyards, add a bit of zoom on the camera and shoot through the fence. Many graveyards have roads running through them that are open to the public.
Bare
-
there are a couple of old cemeteries in bodega...but no roads in the cemeteries.
-
There are some mid 1800's headstones near here but you can't read a thing on them, the writing has worn away with the weather. Must have been made with soft stonework.
-
OK, Since tombstones seem to be for naught, my new Challenge will be an Enfield at a Polo ground. The guys across the pond should have a crack at this one!
Bare
-
Well, I found the tombstone. Still looking for the Polo grounds
-
I had high hopes of getting a photo of my RE at a polo field so, after voting I rode 18 miles out to Westworld.
The local Polo Club plays there.
When I got there I found the huge grass covered field I think they play on but with no signs or bleachers or anything else that looked like a game field except for a couple of large orange cones I decided, nah! Looks like a big pasture to me and there aren't even any cows to make it interesting. :(
This leaves the Polo contest still open for one of you. :)
-
We have a county park that is called the polo grounds tucked away in a mountain canyon so I looked it up to see if there is still polo happening. Turns out that there were only a few polo games ever played there and they were staged games to sell property in the 1920's. So I'm out too.
-
found the wine country polo fields...only no game going on.....
next tag in honor of the vets.
your bike in front of a war memorial.
-
Good shot!
Here's the one I was going to use if no one else came up with anything.
Where were the Brits on this one?
Bare
-
I don't know of any polo clubs. They're as rare as English muffins...
-
I thought polo was a hot sport in Jolly Olde. Maybe that was old movies I've seen...or maybe they were American movies!
I do remember guys playing polo on motorcycles. Aah, the good old days of Field Events! They were great fun.
Bare
-
Hipsters are playing bicycle polo in old tennis courts on their fixies around here. I should have grabbed a pic of that!
-
Ya do realize we're looking for a war memorial now?
Bare
-
The Westminster CA Vietnam War Memorial.
Not a great shot, but about as close as I could get without getting a ticket.
Next, a full moon in the background shot.
Bare
-
nice shot!
there is a really nice memorial in san rafael also.
-
"Next, a full moon in the background shot."
-------------
I asked my wife to help with this but she refused.
I guess I'll have to wait a few weeks for the one in the sky. :(
-
^ LOL, clever.
-
I asked my wife to help with this but she refused.
That could be acceptable as long as there aren't a couple of satellites orbiting it!
Bare
-
That could be acceptable as long as there aren't a couple of satellites orbiting it!
Bare
I'd fear Klingons myself.
-
Methinks this is getting to the point of rank! ;D
Bare
-
"Methinks this is getting to the point of rank!"
OH!
I take it you've seen her? ;D ;D ::)
-
i took this sunday...
rode to work today but it was so overcast i couldn't see the moon
-
I tried to get artsy but the moon wasn't cooperating but I came up with this.
Edit: I didn't realize I left my photo in that terrible state so I fixed it.
-
very good...call the next tag.
if it is a mud slide i can probubly get that friday.
-
Since I called the shot, I couldn't win, but this would've been my entry, lacking others.
Bare
-
Congrat's to jartist ! :)
Here's my effort.
-
Black G5s must go with the moon the best! I think I get to call the next one. I just got soaked this morning on my ride so I'm going to stick with that theme- You're G5 and some nasty looking weather.
-
I am really late but the full moon idea was too good to pass. Here is what I came up with in the bitter cold with freezing fingers.
Continue with Jartist's challenge of RE in nasty weather.
-
it might look ok but it was about 58deg....burrrrr
-
Oh emm gee... That's bitterly cold. How did you survive? :o Summer day here in Canada... 14 degrees celcius....lol
-
Yeah - Careful of frost bite. GEESH. ;)
-
Just so you know... Stock avons are fun for doing donuts in the snow, but suck for going in a straight line. Next challenge... Your Enfield and a new years eve party sign.
-
I love it!
-
27 horsepower terror!!
looks like fun, i wonder how my knobbies would do.
-
i rode by the 2 bars in town and no one had any sighns out...so i took a ride on the coast..it was a balmy 46def f
-
Guess,no-one found a new years eve party sign... So..... I'm changing it to your enfield and a heart. Can be a heart shaped sign, or whatever... But it has to have a heart shape in the picture.
-
Dang! And hunting season just ended. ;D
-
Guess,no-one found a new years eve party sign... So..... I'm changing it to your enfield and a heart. Can be a heart shaped sign, or whatever... But it has to have a heart shape in the picture.
Its Valentines Day and no one has a heart... Tisk tisk.
-
Don't have an Enfield to accompany the heart half!
Bare
-
Here you go!
Next tag must be next to an abandoned factory with graffiti.
-
bump.
-
Not a glamorous work of graffiti, but an abandoned factory. It's been that way for so long, I'm not sure what they made. It says, "General Office" on the side so maybe they made Generals. Or offices.
Next up: Your Bullet and a tree with blossoming flowers (dogwood, cherry-blossom, etc). It's finally Spring and the trees are doing their thing. Get in touch with your softer sides, gentlemen. If this is too region specific, I'll change it after a week or so, but it should make for an awesome shot.
ps: this pic should be small enough for you to left click and view without having to open a new window.
-
I'm going to change this mid-week if someone doesn't nab it before then.
-
I'll get some pictures tomorrow.
The Palo Verde trees are covered with bright yellow blossoms.
The real problem for me is to figure out what the next challenge is going to be.
-
The real problem for me is to figure out what the next challenge is going to be.
Don't force it; Feel it.
-
If you don't get to the palo verde trees in time I'll post some rhododendrons. The race is on!
-
I have trees in the front yard in bloom. Unfortunately there is no RE to park next to them!
Bare
-
Here's my attempt to take a picture.
The tall yellow flowered tree is a Palo Verde (loosely translated as "Green stick or branch) which is Arizona's State Tree.
The gray-green bush is a Sage which is showing its purple flowers.
More unusual is the yellow blossoms on the paddle cactus. Many cacti bloom at night with the flowers closing after dawn but this one must have decided to share its flowers with us in the daytime. :)
I almost forgot about the next quest.
How about a rowboat on a lake, river or stream?
-
Nice one! (or two). Great pics... Pretty amazing foliage out there - So different from the North East... that's for sure. Enfield looks good too.
-
You folks surprise me.
I figured a row boat on the water would be an easy one for one of you to park next to for a picture.
They can't all still be frozen in the ice can they? :-\
-
Rivers here are blown out (spring runoff) I'm patiently waiting til someone puts a boat in again
-
Jim - You originally specified "a rowboat on a lake, river or stream". How strict are you guys in this thread? ;D
There's plenty of rowboats around these parts - in all the salt-water harbors. Nobody rows on the lakes, rivers or streams. ;)
If you're changing it to "water", that opens up a whole new realm of possibilities!
-
The strict rules were that you'd post a challenge and if it wasn't met by three days the poster would pick a new challenge. When we were more active with the phototag it went more like the challenge was posted and if it wasn't met by a couple days someone would post a photo that was related in some way to the original challenge if it was an interesting picture in some way.
-
I see the rowers going up the Charles River between Boston and Cambridge every morning but I've been off the Enfield for quite a few weeks. Summer is picking up - We'll get this thread moving again.
-
Then "Rowboat on the water" it is. :)
-
Managed to get out between storms... to Rockport harbor:
No points for composition, I know, but there are a couple of rowboats there with their covers on! That would have been so much easier if the tide was in...
-
Very nice! Such scenic country up there. You have to post the next challenge now, mattsz.
-
Well, I thought I'd scan through the thread, but it's way too long to do it now! Sorry if this is a repeat!
I see that Slider started this thread (3 years and almost 500 posts ago!) using a sample pic of his bike at a drive-through. My challenge is, a pic of your bike at an old fashioned drive-in (No, not the movies. We had a drive in theater near us that switched to porn a few years before closing for good - in the winter, their lettered sign read "Clothed for the Season! ;D).
I'm talking about an eating establishment where you park and waitresses bring you your food on roller skates. Shouldn't be too hard for some of you guys living near civilization (disqualifies me either way as the closest one to me is over an hour away!). You don't have to order any food, of course, but bonus points if you include a roller-skating waitress in your pic!
-
Well, crap, here I am with a Sonic right down the street with my favorite Chicago Dogs, a camera sitting here hot to go.....But wait!! NO Enfield, Crap!
Bare
-
Well, Brother Bare, clearly you need to acquire another Enfield. :)
I know it's a bit of a sore subject...too soon?
-
I'll get over it!
At least I'm riding again!
-
Is Sonic a national chain? The original poster's rules clearly say you can't use national chains. :(
HOWEVER... the rules also do NOT specify the bike must be a Royal Enfield! So, I say to you Bare, snap away!
Aw, who cares about the rules... ;D
-
I think any bike should count. It' going to be 99% Enfields anyways.
Mattsz, are you in Rockport, MA? I thought you were in Cali. Does Rockport, California look exactly like Rockport, MA???
-
Huh, and here I was thinking he was in Rockport, Maine...
-
Maine it is, guys! Camden, actually, but that's just the next town over from Rockport...
-
Maine and Mass looking alike makes a lot more sense than California and Mass.
-

Got the bike back together today so I thought I'd tackle this 1. :D
For the next tag, let's get a pic of your bike on a back country road surrounded by old trees lining the road.
Scottie
-
Awesome, Scottie! Where would you like me to send your bonus points? :)
Curious - where was that taken?
-
At the Sonic Drive In in Aurora, CO. It was funny, I pull in and get off my bike and walk up to the door and say "I have a unusual request. Do you have any girls on skates that would want to take a pic next to my bike?" After I explained myself he had a chuckle and went into the kitchen, a minute later the guy comes back out with a girl smiling and happy to do it. :D This particular Sonic has a classic car meet every Friday night through out the summer and fall and is a real fun way to spend a Friday night. I've taken the Indian a few times. It gets a lot of attention.
Scottie
-
Now I can still do these! Jack and our REs on Deluz.
Next, The Enfield at the end of a rural road.
Bare
-
Flag on the play,
Phot needs to be taken after the request is made, archive photos not allowed.
-
Story of my life!
-
Sorry Bare! It's nice to see your bikes "together again", though!
I took a picture today, only to see now that didn't really fit the challenge parameters at all! I'd post it anyway, but it's so fuzzy, forget I mentioned it.
We've got plenty of back country roads with old trees around here, but we've also got bad weather coming for the next 3 or 4 days, so little to no chance of me getting out for a pic...
-
This is at the end of Yonah Dam Road in Stephens County, Georgia. As you can see the road ends with a boat ramp into Yonah lake. If anyone thinks this is not country enough it is actually about 4 miles down river from Tallulah Gorge where Deliverance was filmed. Is that banjos I hear?
Andy
-
Almost forgot - next tag. Since I had to ride by one to get this picture, your motorcycle (not just an Enfield Bare) by a dam.
-
Awesome! Great pic SRL790! And yes, I can hear the banjos in the background. ;D
We really don't have any damns in Colorado. LOTS of reservoirs, but no damns.
Scottie
-
How do you have a reservoir without a dam?
-
They're not very big. Basically small mountain streams with a hole dug out. LOL But now that I think about, there is one big one, Chatfield Reservoir.
Scottie
-
I didn't think about a reservoir made by digging one out, lol.
-
Okay, a picture by a dam! It isn't too dam big, but it's all we dam got in dam McHenry. :D
(http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x179/zccrx4sale/20130619_182404_zps1953ddcb.jpg)
And for the next tag... a street sign with alliteration!
Here is Valley View.
-
Street sign with alliteration! Woodsy Way, taken today @ lunch.
And for the next one: A sign written in Hangul. It can be a Church, Restaurant, Grocery, Doctor's Office, or anything else, just has to be a sign written in Korean Alphabet.
-
One of the road crossings had alliteration for both roads - Readington Rd intersecting Roosevelt RD - total four words, each starting with R - in first picture ! Something I never paid attention to till today though I have passed that road before.
DtheD challenge of Hangul script (Korean) sign in the second picture.
Next tag - RE in front of an Army Tank.
-
Singhg5 gets double point! 8)
-
Well. I've searched the whole valley and can't find a tank
How bout a new tag?
Paula
-
Give me a couple of days, I know where there is a Sherman hanging just waiting for this.
Samgar
-
There are several tanks at Chino airport at the two aeroplane museums. The trick is to get the bikes inside the fence to get the pictures!
Bare
-
We even have a national guard armory right up the road, and all they have are humvees. They do have a water tank truck.
-
I live near a junkyard full of trucks and Humvees. Closest Tank is an M48A5 out in front of Fort AP Hill which is 65 miles away or the old Ordnance Museum in Petersburg which is 135 miles away. All my plans are to ride North, not South.
-
Give me a couple of days, I know where there is a Sherman hanging just waiting for this.
Samgar
Since you are trying to get there, we will wait for your picture for a couple of more days !
If we don't get a picture from you or Bare or other Forum members, I have another Tag in mind.
-
I know where some tanks are located, all less than 7 miles from my house.
There are 2 Abrams tanks sitting at the factory where I used to work.
We build the gas turbine engine that powers them.
Unfortunately, because I retired from there and there is a lot of security restrictions there ain't no way I could get my RE anywhere near them. :(
-
IT IS TIME FOR NEW TAG
Hopefully someone will get this one !
RE in front of a Handpump in the ground - bonus points if water is streaming out of it :) !
-
Here is the third TAG - either of the three will do.
RE with a rotary dial phone - Does anyone still have one of them !
-
I know where there is a phone AND a tank !
-
Ice - if you can get them both in the same pic with your bike, you will rule the school! It'll be the first "double-tag", I think...
-
Hell. I can't hardly find a PAYPHONE let alone a ROTATORY phone in Denver. Though if I talked to the right people, I might be able get a pic next to a F16. :D With the right planning, I could get a pic of a F16 flying over the top of my bike as it's taking off. Top Gun style. ;D
Scottie
-
Really. If you go to a pay phone you get profiled as a drug dealer.
Airplanes don't count 'cause too many of us work with them. Or at least, if we work with them we should recluse ourselves in fairness to the spirit.
-
I knew I'd seen a tank around here somewhere. Finally remembered about a week ago, but since then I've either been working or its been pouring down with rain. This is outside of the VFW in Toccoa, GA.
For those of you who have been feverishly working on it I'll keep the next tag as a rotary dial phone or a hand pump.
Andy

Nice shot, Nice Patton

Well, I wish the Blackhawk was in this pic but I don't think they would've appreciated me driving my Indian inside the Visitor Center. ;D My kid's and parents are out visiting from Wisconsin for our annual 2 week summer vacation, and today we took the kids to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. If you're not familiar (which I'm sure most of you aren't) in the 40's the Army opened an arsenal just outside of Denver where they manufactured massive amounts of mustard and sarin nerve gas. They were about to declare the place a waste land but before they did they realized there was a lot of natural wildlife living through out the 30 square mile environment. All through the 80's and 90's they safely destroyed all the chemicals and tore down all the structures and turned it into a National Wildlife Refuge where you can see eagles, hawks, pelicans, elk, buffalo, prairie dogs, coyotes and everything else. There's even a few small lakes you can fish in.
While inside the Visitor Center they had some of the old signs and different items from the arsenal. Just a bunch of cool WWII stuff, and also taxidermy animals. I got some pretty cool pics, but this pic is prime.
BEHOLD! AN EXPLOSION PROOF ROTARY PHONE!!!

Far out! I was an Ordie so I appreciate that sort of thing.

Do the amimals have the usuall number of heads and ther body pats?

As far as I can see! :)
Check it out! It's a really neat place.

Ha ha! If something had gotten out they'd be dead not mutant. :)

The buffalo on the right is peeing though his nose. That outta qualify for something!

New tag? Does Scotties phone grab count? I say... yes, but this is a democrazy. <-- That was a typo but I'm leaving it be.
-
Where is SRL790? The whole world wants to know.
-
OK - I'm issuing executive order 500 and picking a new tag. It's summer and the clock is ticking.
NEXT TAG: Your Royal Enfield (or your non-Royal Enfield if you DO NOT have a Royal Enfield) and a statue of a National hero. Possibly vague, a little open to interpretation, but broad enough to hopefully include everyone.
-
Aw, man, that's always the way it happens! Nothing for weeks, and then the tag changes a few hours before I get to post my photo! :(
Doesn't Singhg5 pick the new tag?
Here's mine anyway. I was going to cheat and take a photo of my bike with my bicycle's hand-powered air pump, but I assumed that the tag was for a hand-powered water pump. Found one this afternoon:
-
Sweet!
-
So who gets to pick? I don't know the correct Parliamentary procedure here. Is it Boggy's statue or something weird Scottie or Mattsz picks?
Isn't Executive Order 500 when Scottie targets and destroys every thing on the surface of the planet below?
-
LMAO!!! ;D
You have to admit, even tho I couldn't get the bike in the pic, the explosion proof rotary phone was pretty sweet. I never choose the next tag because no one gave a definitive answer. Well, boggy kind of did. LOL
I enjoy this game tho, so maybe I'll beat you guys to the next one. ;)
Scottie

Mattsz got a good one :) - it was a tough one to get and you did not give up .
I think it is Mattsz turn to pick a tag !
-
I imagined that the owner would think I was nuts when I knocked on the door and asked permission to roll my bike onto his lawn, but he was totally cool about it.
The original rules (I know, I know...) call for a new tag after, what, three days? I prefer our method - gives more time. Anyway, I'm happy to go with boggy's suggestion - it's so vague and interpretive that just about anybody should be able to do it.
In my town, there's a statue of the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, who is considered by some to be a national hero - of poetry! Ok by me, but I won't be submitting a photo of her with my bike! ;D
-
Yeah, mattsz definitely gets that one. Great find.
I had to step in - The drought went on for too long. I figured a nice, vague tag would get this party started again.
-

@Boggy:
That was a good idea to wake up the thread from slumber - and a perfect way to move forward with Boggy's choice as suggested by Mattsz.
I better start looking for this 'vague national hero' or may be I can make one up ;D !
-
Whew! I thought we'd have to get a picture with a hirdie girdie or circus calliope!
For this challenge I will not cross into the District of Columbia as that would be cheating in spirit. There's a statue in every circle and park. Plus, I don't want to get run over or arrested by the Park Police.
If I come across one in MD though, it's open season.
-
Whew! I thought we'd have to get a picture with a hirdie girdie or circus calliope!
I can help you with that one... ;D
-
Here is my bike and a Canadian national hero.
Next one is your bike and a sombrero.
-
Nice one!
-
At a beer factory too? Great!
-
It is at "Rexall Place" formerly the Coliseum. They have a bunch of ads on the side of the building. The Gretzky trade is still controversial around here. I had to drive my bike up on the sidewalk to get the picture. We used to have a Molson's brewery here but they closed it down. We do have some really good microbreweries though.
-
Either way it's better than what I was planning for this week: running up on the sidewalk at National Harbor to get a shot with a 7 foot tall Big Bird and trying to pass him as an American hero. Maybe to some 3 year olds ;D
-
Wait. You have a 7 foot tall Big Bird near you. Why do I not know of this? This has to be on my bucket list. Where is this statue?
-
National Harbor is just South of DC on the Maryland side of the Potomac River, just South of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. It's not far from old Ft Washington.
Big Bird is out in front of the National Children's Museum.

Enfield and sombrero.
I'm not psyched with the shot since it was at night - but since I live in a predominantly Central-American neighborhood I figured I could drive through the center of town and find one. Does this count REdmonton?
If so... next tag is you and your Royal Enfield (or non-Enfield "if you have no Enfield") and a "Welcome to..." sign.
-
I see a sombrero and a Royal Enfield in that pic, so gosh darn it, it counts if I have any say!
A "welcome to..." sign should be easy. I doubt I'll get to it though. There's one near me for a very small town, whose name eludes me for the moment - it says, "Welcome to XXX... Please come again!" ;D
-
Looks good to me!
-
"Welcome to..." I want to see someone get their bike in the lobby of the Holiday Inn without getting arrested. :)
-
"Welcome to..." I want to see someone get their bike in the lobby of the Holiday Inn without getting arrested. :)
Bonus points to you if you pull it off DdaD
-
Oh no, not me. I'm just encouraging the incorrigibles here. You know, like the uncle that got you to embarrass your mom at Thanksgiving.
-
Not quite "Welcome to," but it is "Welcome." And if it counts, then next is your Enfield in front of a Bail Bond Office.
How'd the pics get backwards?
-
That counts. Man, the bike looks great with those side cases in that color.
-
Thanks! That's the color as it came from RE.
Now we'll see who's not afraid to ride by the county courthouse or into a seedy neighborhood.
-
Shhhhit... I just have to drive down Colfax and choose which bails bond I want to take a pic in front of. LOL For reals tho.
Scottie
-

I figured you'd get this one. LOL
-
It's been a while and no one seems to have been arrested lately. Hence, it is probably time to choose a different photo situation. Since my Enfield got totaled by a lady with a Nissan and I have since replaced it with a new Yamaha Star Bolt R Spec, I probably should step down and let an RE owner pick. However, to make it easy, I will propose that the next photo be an RE at a Roy Roger's Restaurant as below (except have your RE in the pic). Double Rs and Roast Beef Sandwich for the one that finds the Roy's.
-
We've been through this already - I think the consensus was that this particular thread is not limited to the RE brand. So, D the D, you can still play with us! ;D
I don't have any bail bond offices, or Roy Roger's Restaurants, within 200 miles of me...
-
Mattz you think that's rough? I don't have any Roy Rogers Restaurants or bail bond offices on the entire continent! Does that mean I can't play?
-
Thanks guys! I plan to have another RE when they come out with twin. I love this forum, even our oil threads are civil....
Aussies don't have the luxury of bail? Hmm. That's what you get for living on a big island and not kicking out the Redcoats. :P
I will think about this and post something fair to all. Roy's is out. Time to ride, I'll get back later. Be safe! 8)

No bail bond offices? At all? Is this where someone with poor taste would crack a joke about the early colonists maybe not needing bail?
Which is something I would NEVER do... ;)
And... of course you can play!!! You and I will just sit this round out together. Where's the beer? ...
-
I've been so busy with my new job that I haven't had time to ride down Colfax to snap a pic. Actually, riding to the DGR ride yesterday was the 1st time I've been down Colfax in over 2 months. I try to avoid it like the plague. ;)

Oh, we have bail alright , just not a bail bond system. You have to hock your grandmothers eyeballs or have a secret stash in the Swiss banks. To tell the truth I've never had the pleasure - my ancestors were officers in the queens navy don't ye know. First fleet and all that.well one was. Most the rest were disspossesed Scotts.a bit like some off you guys I'd imagine.

Scotch-Irish = not welcome in Ireland 'cause they were Protestant Scottish usurpers, not welcome to return to Scotland 'cause they were Protestant Reivers. They had to come here.

Hey! I represent that...... I mean, I resent that! :D
I'm actually a really nice guy and a great friend and husband. Until you piss me off. Then I turn into a real ass. But I think has more to do with being a scorpio than being tattooed. ;)

It has been over a month and no one has gone to the Bail Bond Office. So, I suggest a change.
Your bike next to a Soccer/Football Goal/Net or an American Football Goal Post. Hurry before they all come down for Winter and some S. African or Australian guy steals the Cup!
Bonus points if there is a bikini girl in the picture. Extra Bonus points if she has goosebumps.

Well, let us get this going again for 2014! All the soccer/football fields I tried to go to today are heavily fenced or quite out of distance. I've attached the best I could do. It was 106F here in Sydney today.
Next challenge: Your RE next to a graffiti/tagged/mural piece/building/wall. Sorry, couldn't think of any other good challenge. Please feel free to change it lol, even though it might be against the rules of this topic :-X

I was just thinking about this thread over the weekend. Thanks for bringing it back to life! :)

Long time lurker first time poster. Hope this is enough graffiti. 10 points if anyone guesses where the pics were taken. Oh and next challenge is your RE on a ferry boat. ;D

this is one of those little barge ferrys crossing the Mississippi

ok.... Busted.
2005, the wife had a weekend training in St Louis so I took the
bike down for 2 days of exploring; The River and the City. Imagine
downtown St. Louis at 7:30 am on a Sunday morning; it was like
a ghost town! I'm going to blame my poor judgement on that
Scotch Ale I was drinking last nite... can you ever forgive me?
-
Given how long past hunts have taken for much more simple goals such as "your Enfield and a tree", I'd say this should count OR change it to "your Enfield AND a ferry." Not necessarily ON it.
Nice pics, John20121978. Crazy graffiti. I was going to guess Berlin, but I'm off by a few decades I think.
-
I took a ferry to Sausalito one time. It took me two days to get rid of him!
Bare

can you ever forgive me?
Of course! But does the photo stand, gang?
-
Wow, This got weird. That is the Brussels ferry, the exact ferry i was thinking about when i posed the challenge. I live close to it and used it many times. Anyway the graffiti pics are from paint Louis in St Louis at the flood wall. I say photo stands just because of the weirdness factor.

Works for me, since you posted the challenge! Mike's choice, then?
(Mike, if you ask for a covered bike in a garage near a Toyota Corolla, I will so have that one nailed...)

well ok then...
your Enfield and a "Welcome to" or City sign with a population
of less than 5,000.

-
I'm gonna try and revive this game guys!
I know plenty of towns with small populations but we don't put them on our welcome signs :(
-
I had an unexpected day off work, so I rode out to Canyon lake and Tortilla flats where I once saw a sign that said population 6! After a good ride I found the sign had been taken down, the lady in the shop there didn't know why the sign had been removed, but she had a Shirt of how it looked!
-
well it's close...
a bike and a T-shirt graphic??
close enuff, let's get on with it- your move
-
Anyone got the next challenge, its a beautiful day and Im itcing to go exploring!
-
Ok, I'm taking a turn 'cause I have the pic of a population sign. The next challenge is your bike with a vintage stationary engine.
-
And, we have the first Conti to join the phototag thread!
Doh! Sixtysix just showed a pic of his a few posts ago! :-[

Vintage stationary engine? Does parking next to a Harley count?

-
Old Enough! ;)
-
This pic doesn't count though, it's from last year. I just have so many freaking pics of my bike at the Friday Night Hot Rod meet that I knew I had at least one of my bike next to something 1920ish. ;)
Scottie J
-
Where's the stationary engine? ;)
Big black thing behind that fence, in it's current state it's a stationary engine under repairs ;)
Cut me a break, just trying to move to game along!
I only spotted engines on wheels, so I was just asking. They were stationary, though, so it's all good!
Never feel obligated to defend yourself against our bs here, though, Mazza - just challenge us to find a better pic! ;)
-
It is not easy to see my bike in this picture - it is just so FAST ;).
But at least there is a 1929 genuine Ford in there ! Its cost $495 for 40 horses at 65 mph max !
This picture does not count - so carry on with the search guys
-
Here's a photo that might be a little easier to see the Royal Enfield.
(hint) It's sitting in front of a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster.
The next challenge is: Your Royal Enfield with a sleeping dog.
-
Is that at Scottsdale Pavilions? easy to find just about any classic car there on a Saturday...
-
Yes it is.
I'm there just about every Saturday between 4:30 and 6:00.
-
Man, im an idiot. For 12 hours by bike was next to a 1928 Austin 7!
Didnt even think I should take a picture, being 18 my mind was on alcohol...
-
The next challenge is: Your Royal Enfield with a sleeping dog.
Anyone? =O
-
Anyone? =O
My dog would take hours to fall asleep next to my bike, or try to go for his own walk!
-
My dog's been taking a dirt nap for 3 years now. Wouldn't make a very nice picture I'm afraid.
-
Does this count? My Goose and a Tesla. At least that one's got a 'motor' in it! And it's stationary, at the moment!
Bare
-
I don't see no sleeping dog...
I'd call it good if it were a broken down TVR or triumph spitfire though : sleeping dog indeed, and a stationary engine to boot !
-
While out flying traffic one day, I looked down and saw a TVR in a used car lot. It was it still there a couple of days later, so I decided I might want that, so when I got home, I jumped in the car to go down and look at it. It was gone!
Sad stories of opportunities missed!
Bare
-
Maybe uncle billy snapped it up ;D
-
Ok, here's my bike and a sleeping dog. My mate went to hospital and I'm looking after his old Labrador while he's in.
Next challenge : your Enfield at the drive in theater.
-
Nice one, gizzo! That took awhile...
I'm out of this one; no drive-in's near me anymore. I'm sure I've told this story here before, but: there used to be a drive-in close by which, towards the struggling, sorry end of its existence, resorted to showing pornography, seasonally, of course, it being Maine and all. During the winter months when they were shut, their lettered sign read, "Clothed for the Season"...
-
If I still lived in WI I could run over to Jefferson and get a pic there. But I haven't got a clue where a drive-in theater is here in Denver. ???
-
No worries, doesn't need to be an active one, could be an old,run down, out of business, ex drive in out in the desert somewhere. It's all good. There's one near me that's used as a market these days and another a couple hours away that used to open once a year for the Mad Max rally, hosted by the Zed Club. Good times...

Hmm there is around 3 near my house.
Me thinks exploring time!
-
I'm surprised at how slow phototag has been this summer. There have been some tricky tags called out lately. :)
-
I was all set to win the Drive In Theater picture this morning.
I knew where a big 6 screen theater was, over on the Indian Reservation East of Tempe. It was built back in the late '60's.
With camera in the saddle bags, I took off for the "ride to fame" for winning this contest in mind. :)
When I got there I saw the biggest somewhat lumpy field of brush and weeds I've seen in a long time. Even the projector/snack bars were torn down and the huge signs that used to show the names of the films they were showing at the entrances were gone.
After I got home I went to my telephone book and looked up "Drive In Theater".
Amazingly, they only show one, way over on the West side of town. :(
This does not bode well for the future.
I foresee a large reduction in the population growth of our nation.
With no Drive In theaters to go to and little cars with virtually no back seat to speak of, the birth rate is bound to plummet. :-\
Being an old fart, as I am, I'm wondering what the adolescents are doing without a good old fashioned Drive In to go to?
;D
-
Big Screen TV and a comfy sofa... ;)
-
Got it finally. It was 45F when I rode out there.
(http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/gallery/medium_12026-191014000333.jpeg) (http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=4648)
Next tag: haunted house (I know NA centric) or pumpkin field as it's just getting harder for some further north.

Man we actually dont have haunted houses OR grow pumpkins in Australia :/
-
How sad that we went through the four best riding months (in my neck of the woods, anyway ;) ) without a chance of me being able to post a pic, and now that it's time to put the bike away, we get a tag I could actually accomplish!
By the way, how do we confirm that a house in a pic is haunted?
-
There must be a ghost or zombie looking out of a window. Or maybe just someone hanging in a tree.... ;D
-
Well, it is that time of year...
-
By the way, how do we confirm that a house in a pic is haunted?
Guess we'll just have to believe you :)
Sorry Mazza and others, I know it's very US cultural centric. Let's see what folks do for a bit. If nothing, I'll change the tag.
-
Are you suggesting that there's no haunted houses outside the US?
-
Would a haunted bridge count ?
-
I just may tag this one today! There are 6 different "haunted houses" in Denver this time of year. OR! Or, I can ride about 90 minutes into the mountains on old mining roads where I know there is a real life ghost town that used to be a mining community.......
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/lethalinj/GloryHoleandRussellGulch067_zpsfb2365bd.jpg) (http://s6.photobucket.com/user/lethalinj/media/GloryHoleandRussellGulch067_zpsfb2365bd.jpg.html)
Anyone want to dare me?! ;D
-
are you suggesting...
No not at all. Just the US is very 'commercially' focused this time of year. Having lived in a number of different countries, it is interesting to see what people do around the 31st and All Saints day tho! Best haunting I experienced was in Germany: Frankenstein Schloss.
would a haunted bridge count ?
Sure!
Dare me...
Pic or it didn't happen. :)
-
You're on! I double dare you, go for a ride ;D
-
I didn't get up there today. Played in the Subaru instead. Maybe I'll ride my bike tomorrow to work and run up there on my lunch or something.
-

Don't make me double-dog dare you, Scottie! >:(

OK, no takers on the last challenge, so lets bump and make it easier ....
Your RE pictured at a Harley Davidson shop ;D

Your RE pictured at a Harley Davidson shop ;D
If no one gets one by Sunday I'll one mine sitting outside HARLEY HEAVEN in Melbourne ;)
-
Haha, my local Enfield shop is the Harley expert, too. Was just there a few days ago. No photo though.
-
bump!
-
My G5 at a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealer shop.
-
Nice shot Singh! But what's the next challenge?
-
Phototag lives again! Only 4 in the last six months, that's bad.
Pick up the ball we dropped, you southern (hemisphere) guys!
-
Nice shot Singh! But what's the next challenge?
Thanks.
The next challenge is RE next to you doing Head Stand ;)! OK to get a helper for balance.
Bonus point if head is on the seat of RE.
-
Ok! One that's not weather-dependent. Anyone can do it! :o
-
Ok! One that's not weather-dependent. Anyone can do it! :o
But can they do it without getting hurt? ;D
-
I can't! Hence the " :o "
-
Here you go ;D
My little one took the pic, and she's choosing the next challenge: She wants to see you reading a book on your motorbike.
Good luck!!!!!
-
LOL awesome :D
-
That is a great pic! Nicely done.
-
Love it !
Knew someone from down under will pick up and run with the ball, that we had dropped (as Mattsz put it) :).
-
Bump!
-
And to think...
Atlas had to use his shoulders to support the Earth.
That's using your head, mate! ;)
-
Here we go! Me reading the parts book for my Trailblazer on my Trailblazer! :D

Next tag, your bike next to blossoming spring flowers! :)
-
I do like this thread - I'm hoping interest in it will increase as the (northern) weather improves!
Next tag, your bike next to blossoming spring flowers! :)
Well, I figured that someone in a more, umm... temperate climate would have nabbed this one, but no takers, so here you go. We're not yet very far into spring up here, but if you look closely, you can see some crocuses in there...

I know, but cut me some slack, there's still a fair amount of snow on the ground!

Hey mattsz, if anything, you get BONUS points for posting flower buds when you guys had the longest winter of all! I know your snow just melted like last week, so nice work. :)
-

I like bonus points! But as far as our snow being melted... not so much. Attached is a pic of my back yard and garden, with some snow still 2 feet deep. These aren't shoveled piles, mind you, but natural drifts! I'm ready to see it gone.
The new tag: May is coming, so... a pic of your mother posing on your bike!
-

Shucks, that ain't gonna happen. My mom and my bike reside on different continents! ;D
-
I know... I knew I'd be leaving a bunch out. I couldn't do it either, my Mom lives hours away! Still, let's see what happens...
-
The new tag: May is coming, so... a pic of your mother posing on your bike!
Bonus points if you take the photo on Mothers Day...
-
Might be pretty hard to get my mom onto my RE.
If she was still alive today, she'd be 102.
That's not where the problem is. She absolutely HATES MOTORCYCLES and her ghost would haunt me for years if I even tried getting her anywhere near my bike. ;D
-
My mom was my first ever passenger - we putted around her cul-de-sac neighborhood in 1st gear. She didn't like it...
-
Ok, so obviously we all have mom issues... since this one seems to be a bust, am I allowed to change the tag?
If yes... the new tag is: a motorcycle on a wall. Or suspended from a ceiling. Extra points, of course, if it's an Enfield - although I'd hate to see one trapped on a wall...
-
This was easy... for me ....
ROYAL ENFIELD Hanging From a Ceiling !!
-
Nice!
I'm not really that much of a stickler for the rules in circumstances like these, and I'd like to see some life back in this thread, so you're up next if you want to, Singhg5!
But, does that shot follows "the rules" (listed in post #1), which say the photo must be taken after the tag is announced? Also, my suggestion doesn't fit the bill either, since I asked for a pic of any bike, but the pics should be of your bike and something. Oh well... see the previous paragraph! ;)
-

Let someone hang their motorcycle and post a new picture to be the next - I will pass the turn. Think of the above picture as visual entertainment ;).
I was excited when I had seen that thing dangling from the ceiling, so I took that picture - which I take a lot anywhere or everywhere :). We don't see that kind of thing at our NJ motorcycle dealers.
-

Ok, but so we're clear... I'm happy either way! I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. What I'd really like is to see some traffic on this thread - like when it was newer, and we'd see multiple posts a day. Keeps the sense of community alive.
We don't see that kind of thing at our NJ motorcycle dealers.
I kinda figured... that sari-guard was a dead givaway! ;) Actually, I kind of would like to have one on my bike... even though I don't even have a passenger seat!
-
Does a vstar hanging from a tree for a tire change count?
-
Nice pick!! I think that counts and it cracks me up!
You get to pick next tag.
-
That poor tree!
That's hilarious - can I copy that system for work? ;)
-
An RE in or on a boat going somewhere.
Copy the rope technique all you want Mattsz.
-
An RE in or on a boat going somewhere.
I'd be all over this one if I could trust my bike to get me to work...
-
howse about on a small ferry crossing the Mighty Mississippi?
-
Works for me Baird4444. Next photo tags yours. ;)
-
an RE next to a fiberglass restaurant statue like the BIG BOY, a chicken or lobster or ?? NO Golden Arch Supper Club statuary allowed...
-
howse about on a small ferry crossing the Mighty Mississippi?
Is there a story behind this pic?
-
riding The Great River Road, crossed just north of Alton Illinois. Very small 4 car barge'n tug setup. very strange sensation....
-
Cool, thanks! Always interested in ferry pics...
-
Cool, thanks! Always interested in ferry pics...
careful 'bout auto-correct if you google that.

careful 'bout auto-correct if you google that.
Hahaha! I almost did something along the same lines. ;D

What... you guys don't believe in Ferries? :'(
Lucky fer me I kan spel gud...

;D
-
You were talking about this, right?
That's what you guys were so worried about?!? Doesn't look too bad to me... ;)
-
Well, I tried to get a photo of a fiberglass restaurant statue like the BIG BOY, a chicken or lobster, but no luck. I find my camera got drunk and started seeing pink elephants with sunglasses. I will try later as soon as it sobers up.
Grant
-
Love the shades!!
this one is yours.... what'll it be??
- Mike
-
Grant -
Elephant? I don't see... is there supposed to be an elephant in that pic? And it's pink, you say? :-X
-
Mattsz,
Now that I have awakened I too have a problem finding that 12' tall elephant, need to find my glasses.
how about a roadside waterfall, with water of course.
Grant
-
oh wait.... that's not an Enfield; nevermind.
-
Awhile back "we" agreed that the pic doesn't have to have an Enfield specifically to qualify... so it works for me!
(not much of a waterfall, though, is it? ;) )
-
that was not my intent; we STILL need a waterfall Enfield pic....
-
It's probably a very impressive waterfall but the sense of scale is off because of that enormous motorbike in front of it ? :P
-
Here's a google find ...... (it doesn't count because ICE =/= Water)

GO AHEAD AND CALL ONE....
-
Let's keep this moving;
GO AHEAD AND CALL ONE....
Yours was the closest - your call, I say...
-
How about an Enfield and an Enfield ? rifle/bike
-
:)
-
Dude awesome! All yours bro, pick the next tag! :)
-
I recognize the bike, of course, but the Enfield rifle? I don't know my firearms very well... what can you tell us about it?
-
From the photo it looks like a SMLE (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield) No.5 Jungle Carbine. And very rusty!
The better or most famous Enfield rifle is the SMLE No. 1 MkIII, served from WWI all the way until the Korean war (Australian Army) and are still used in Pakistan and India for police use, and some Canadian mounties.
Fun fact, in Melbourne at the shrine of rememberance, the Shrine Guard are actually police officers with loaded Enfield rifles.
-
The stock on the winning entry has been replaced with a hunting style aftermarket style but it is/was a Enfield rifle.
For a bit of contrast I'm attaching a picture of my Royal Enfield G5 with a reproduction of a 1853, Enfield, "3 band" rifled musket sitting on it.
This gun was made in the 1980's by Parker Hale in Birmingham, England, using the original Enfield gauges. All parts are interchangeable with the original 160 year old guns parts.
The Enfield rifles at that time were .577 caliber muzzleloaders shooting a 550+ grain weight, hollow based bullet.
They were used extensively by the Confederates during the American Civil War.
The South had very little manufacturing at the time but they did have tons of cotton. The British were more than happy to supply Enfields in trade for the cotton.
(Of course, getting the guns and cotton past the Union blockade on the Southern ports wasn't easy but tens of thousands of Enfields were delivered.
The Union also bought thousands of Enfields from the British.
The idea was, if the Union bought them, the South wouldn't get them so, many of them remained unused by the North.
-
Can't tell you much about the Enfield rifle in my picture. Borrowed it from a friend who obviously has'nt taken very good care of it. The alterations to the stock were done by a previous owner. It's in desperate need of some cleaning. Offered to do so, the owner would rather just sell it.
I like Arizoni's picture and story much better. I think he should be the next tagger.
-
Guess I'm still it.
An R.E. In a really tiny shop space.
-
:) bump
-
Guess I'm still it.
An R.E. In a really tiny shop space.
Well, over 120 days and no go. How 'bout in a cramped garage?
-
Over two months and no one can take a picture of their RE in a cramped garage?
With winter here and many of our members walking around in snow ass deep to a tall giraffe, I'm surprised no one has put their trusty motorcycle into storage and taken a picture of it.
Maybe the depressing sight of it sitting there, all cold and lonely is too much to bare and the owners tears have frozen on the cameras button?
-
Believe me, I've considered it - but for me to call my garage "cramped" would just be complaining...
-
The garage is cramped enough with the girldfriends car, but the bike isn't fully on form as of yet!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzFMwJ7tvTXlTVdTUHRMMEhPbmM/view?usp=sharing
-
Well, since you asked, here are a couple of photos of my garage. There is a 2002 Yamaha FZ1 hidden somewhere in the back of the picture but the rest of my bikes are pretty much visible. I don't know where the RE Bullet is hiding in the second photo, though. ???
In case you are wondering, I like variety in my life and motorcycles. ;)
-
Bump. My Enfield in a cramped workspace. Lets get this game going again :). Next challenge: your Enfield and an fountain, working only. Too easy.
-
Next challenge: your Enfield and an fountain, working only. Too easy.
I'm up for it. Just need to find a fountain that works.
-
Ok... the big main fountain in my town is out of order so you'll have to settle for these burbling rocks downtown.
Your new challenge is to take a picture of your bike and a Boxing Club or a pair of boxing gloves in honour of the recent passing of The Greatest Boxer Muhammad Ali
-
Thank you, Desi Bike, for reviving one of my favorite threads!
-
and a nice photograph, too :D
-
Thanks guys. I've always enjoyed it too. Just had to wait until my bike was back together to participate again.
-
I looked at the photo without reading the description...Thought you were just a biker between a rock and a hard place, but listen to me babble......Ha ha Haaa.????????
I hope to participate soon as I get my bike back too....Nice photo and cool thread!
-
Bump....
It's almost the weekend. .. google your nearest boxing club and go for a ride
-
I don't know if it is a "club" but the only boxing site I know of wouldn't lend itself to parking my RE in the area.
I'd even feel a bit uneasy just being there unless I was packing my WW II, 1911 Colt or my Ruger Blackhawk.
It ain't in the nicest area of town.
-
It could also be a pair of boxing gloves... doesn't have to be a club of you fear becoming statistic.
-
Well i guess no-one wants to find a boxing club.
Time to change the challenge then.
New photo tag to get. ...
Your bike and a street sign showing the name of one of the streets on a Monopoly Game Board. International versions of the game accepted.
-
I've just posted the game in the forums to see if we can get this game back on the go.
-
I can't remember... is this Royal Enfields only? Seems to me awhile back we agreed that any bike would be ok...
-
Any motorbike will do. I think only if the challenge poster specifies a Royal Enfied. In this challenge, any motorbike and a road sign with a name of one of the streets on a standard Monopoly board will do.
-
Here you go :).
Next challenge, an easy one. Don't even have to leave home. A picture of your bike with you in your favourite moto t shirt.
-
It is early morning, birds are singing, and a great day for the Wounded Warriors ride!
My challenge... your bike in front of a ... Biker Church! It IS sunday...
If you can't find a Real Biker Church (they're out there ;) ) then a pic of your bike or other bikes at a church will do!
-
Its almost Monday here :P!
Greetings from the future!
-
That's funny Gizzo..Now go to bed....Just kidding. My wife was stationed in Korea while I lived on the East cost of USA. phone call times were confusing... :o
-
I have a biker church in mind... I'll try to get the shot on Sunday (eastern standard tome lol)
Unless someone else beats me to it.
-
Sorry, but what's a "biker church"?
-
A church attended by bikers. The Christian Riders bike gang 99%'ers are one group that come to mind.
-
When I put "biker church phoenix" into the search engine I was surprised to see several religious churches pop up in the area.
The only "Biker Church's" I'm familiar with would be called "Beer Joints" with half a dozen Harley's parked outside.
-
Well, I have my bike. Now I'll have to find the church....
-

...hehe in Toledo, Ohio our biker church is called Heaven's Highway Biker church, and it's right next to a bar. And sometimes, it's hard to tell the vehicles in the parking lot apart, as there are 'bikers' who frequent either place on sundays. But that's ok, as we have gone over there, and they have come over here. That's kinda what Jesus did, he hung out with people who needed a change of heart... as God looks at the heart, not the appearance. Google it, you'll find the website also!
-
Yamahawk, of you want to go for a ride some day... I'm only an hour and half away in southern Ontario
-
Shucks, thought I had a picture from One Ride this year. Started from church after the morning gathering, thought I'd taken a pic but can't find it.
-
Yamahawk, of you want to go for a ride some day... I'm only an hour and half away in southern Ontario
Thanks Desi!
I appreciate the offer. I don't get to Canada anymore, but if you are ever this side of the border, please let me know, I would be glad to go for a ride with you! I am still waiting for the Title Bureau in Columbus to determine whether they will issue me the first title on my 1996 RE Bullet 500 ( it's never been titled) , should hear from them by the end of next week! I'm anxiously waiting.....
-
I want to ride the south route of the Maumee river. I ran my tractor trailer through that route a few weeks ago. Looks like it would be a great ride on the Enfield.
-
The biker church i had in mind was devoid of bikers. The local bike club use it as a meeting place as it shares a parking lot with the local donut and coffee shop. Instead of waiting for them to show up i went for a ride and present Bethel Community Church in the middle of nowhere Southern Ontario. Built in 1867 and has been retired to occasional use since most of the congregation are buried in the cemetery beside it.
Next challenge show me your bike and an outhouse.
-
I guess no-one can find an outhouse.
-
Do porta-potties count ?
-
Sure... let's get this game back on the go.
-
Here's the closest I could come, hope this counts lol...
Now, how about a pic of your bike in front of an Art Museum?
-
Need a bike in the picture padre
-
Need a bike in the picture padre
Does this meet the criteria?
Next. A photo of your bike next to a beat up truck.
-
Yes, it has all the elements... a bike and a bog.
Now we need to all go beat up truck hunting.
-
Need a bike in the picture padre
Darn... I couldn't get the bike into their front yard lol... but Malky came to the rescue!! Good pic!!
-
This Western Star has seen better days.
Next challenge....
Your bike and a fishing boat.
-
This Western Star has seen better days.
Next challenge....
Your bike and a fishing boat.
Now there's a weird coincidence. My wife's uncle worked for Western Star, and another uncle built fishing boats.
-
Ok... guess no one can find a fishing boat.
How about your bike, any, and a dead end road sign.
-
Ummm. Anyone still looking?
-
Ummm. Anyone still looking?
They don't HAVE dead end road signs 'round here... At least none I've ever seen (in any language), not even on a dead end road...
-
I might be able to do a Hoon mission on my YZ and track one down a Dead End sign by work.....
-
There's a dead-end road near me with a sign... the road ends at a cemetery! But it doesn't exist without a photo...
-
Read the small lettering at the bottom.
Then think about it. :-\
Ha!
Is there a wall around it? Why? People outside don't want to go in, and the people inside can't get out...
-
I've looked but no joy. Our dead ends are signposted "No Through Road". Best of luck. Be fun to get this game back on the road, so to speak.
-
I haven't seen one in awhile, but keep looking too. Our signs say, "no through"
-
Many of ours in Phoenix say, NO OUTLET.
-
That's what I ment... No outlet....

I'll post one (a dead end) if it ever stops raining. My street (Wood Lane) is a dead end with only 5 houses on it. It's an unaccepted town road (one lane) that it's lucky we even get plowed. It's the only reason I didn't leave RI 30 years ago. I own one of the houses, my neighbor owns the three past me. Zero traffic.

Let's get this Rollin'
Let's see a photo of a castle or fort next.
-
I found one!
-
Sorry, should have said, in the U.K. this is a dead end sign.

Shucks, Castillo San Felipe would be great - but don't know when I'll ever get up to Cartagena on the Rumbler...

Fort Glanville
next up, seeing next Sunday is mother's day, your Enfield and a mum. yours, your kid's a random from playgroup, I don't mind. extra points for a MILF.
-
Does it count if the only way you know it's a fort is because the sign says it is? Gizzo, you could file that photo away and re-post it when someone asks for a pic of your bike at a water treatment plant. ;)
-
I suppose I could, but what would be the point? I'd rather go for a ride to a water treatment plant. If I didn't get the sign in, it would just look like a concrete bunker. Anyway, trust me it is an actual fort. Never used in combat (duh, it's in Adelaide). Here's your reading assignment for tonight: http://www.fortglanville.com.au/
:P

:o ;D ;D ;D
Take a picture of a military installation around here and one's in for an interview, at the least. :o

I will read that, thanks!
We've got one like that about an hour from me - Fort Knox (no, not that fort Knox)... the spot guarded since our Revolutionary war period, but never a single shot fired in anger...

I buy my groceries at a fort....Not an interesting photo though...
-
It's been so long since anyone added to the phototag post, I bet there are a lot of people who don't know it even exists.
THIS IS IT !
It's easy to play.
Just take a picture of your Royal Enfield in the scene that was suggested (given) by the last person to win.
The last winner posted the picture of a fort and his "next challenge" was (posted over a year ago), a picture of a Mom (Mum for some of you) with your Royal Enfield.
Just remember, if you are the winner, you are expected to come up with the next challenge.
Oh. Why didn't I post a picture of a Mum?
Well, I tried to get one that would meet the MILF bonus but none of the possible mom's seemed to want me to take their picture next to my RE.
They looked at me like I was the lecherous old man that I am.
