I started sweating the thought of doing an oil change this weekend. I have nightmares of stripping the cases out...

If that happens there are helicoils.

Suitable location for a Fumoto drain valve?
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

Nothing to fear if you have a small torque wrench and the right sized sockets and screw in the bolts/plugs all the way to snug with your fingers.  (If they screw in with finger pressure you know they are not cross threaded).

Torque the main drain plug towards the rear of the engine to 13-15 lb/ft.

Torque all of the small head bolts on the oil pump inlet cover and filter cover to 3 1/2-4 lb/ft.

I don't know what the torque value is for the forward drain on the bottom of the crankcase is but you can safely use the values in the chart attached.
Note:  The metric sizes in the chart are the actual thread size.  They are not the size of the wrench you use to loosen/tighten the bolt.
 Use the lubricated aluminum values.

That's scary.

In thew US, we have Buchanon's.

Buchanan's sells worldwide and one of, if not, the most repsected Spoke/Wheel companies.
Mail them a spoke and they'll send you a new/better one.
I've been a customer a few times.  I live in the US (Arizona).

OK, so you liked the soap, but never walk out of a public restroom smelling your fingers.

And that's the thing. Where in the world do you find a torque wrench that reads down to 3.5-4lbs.

I mean if Harbor Freight doesn't carry them...

Ebay will have it, here some HQ example:

...or you can get a 25$ one from China, which may be good enough for this job. I like good tools though.

I use a small one that reads in inch-pounds.
Flex pointer type. Not expensive.

Farmer John:  Are you thinking of a 1/2" drive wrench?  If so, you may be right in saying it can't be set that low.

I have a 3/8 drive, ratchet type spring "click" torque wrench.

It's torque settings start at 1/2 lb/ft so setting it at 4 lb/ft is just a matter of twisting and locking the adjustment handle.

Mine is a Snap-On but I would be surprised if the Harbor Freight 3/8 drive click style torque wrench would not have similar settings.

By the way, the Harbor Freight click torque wrenches are supposed to be accurate to ±5% which is actually pretty accurate.

Well, they use to.  I bought mine a couple of years ago, and paid 30 bucks for it.  Good luck on the search though......
