I have a 2011 B5 that the paint has taken a pretty good beating from the weather, especially the past 2 years.
What suggestions do you have that may improve my chances at preserving paint on the Enfields?[/font]

Warm soapy water and some polish maybe? :P

If you want to restore the paint, you'll be needing some sort of cutting compound. This will remove oxidization, reduce the appearance of minor scratches and scuffs.
If you plan on riding in all weathers then soapy water once a week is a must, if you want to stand a hope of keeping the bike looking it's best.
I used to commute on my CGT, last year I clocked 4000 miles in all weather riding and it still looks great. They hold up well with the right care.

Looked great till about the fall of last year. and I rode in all weather. BUT, I must admit failing to wash weekly and wax more than couple times a year.
thought about getting a new one, C5, love the blue and cream look.

If the paint is just oxidized and not beat up, per say, then I would try a clay bar. Paint clay bar kits can be bought at any car parts store in the detailing section. Meguiar's and Mother's make a nice kit available there for about $30. The kit comes with a bottle of detailing spray, spray the surface and use the clay in a small circular motion with light pressure. Keep massaging the paint with the clay until you feel it move smoothly over the surface, then move onto the next spot. Keep folding the clay over frequently to keep the cleaned dirt particles trapped deep in the clay itself. Keep in mind, this will remove any wax, so the paint will need a good coat or 2 of wax.
