My Haynes book doesn't appear to mention how to check primary chain tension. Is the M18 chrome bolt at the top of the CC for inspection of the chain as I can't see it. I can get a long thin screwdriver under the top run of the chain to feel a chain which has little give in it. Is there a better way, or do I have to wait until I drain the oil and do it with all the other jobs?

You don't need to check it. It has an automatically adjusted chain over tensioning device. When you pop the side off to check the clutch and primary nuts you can remove the spring and set the tension manually. It doesn't seem to need much attention after that. Mines not been touched in about 40k km.

Is that chrome M18 bolt covering an inspection hole?
