Title: Missing C5 Toolbox Lock
Post by: kcRoyal on July 27, 2013, 03:59:52 am
Anyone experience their toolbox lock coming off while riding? I came back from work (26 miles each way) and my toolbox cover was opened slightly from the bottom and right side where the lock is/was...Anyway, the lock was missing and so was the toolkit....so far I have been extremely happy with my C5....1850 miles and counting and no significant issues....I ride sections to and from work 70-73mph with no trouble, and I'm pushing 240lbs

Did that work on the actual C5 toolbox (oval box on the right side nest to efi)? it looks like this tool would only fit the triangle shaped air filter and electrical boxes?

I used it on the battery cover.
Not sure if it fits the tool box or not, NFG calls it a tool box lock.
Maybe a phone call to them?

I have a hell of a time getting my tool box cover off.

This almost sounds like someone yanked off the lower part of your cover and swiped your toolkit......you probably just noticed it later. These lids fit so tight that they are almost impossible to shake loose.  You would definitely have noticed the toolkit falling off.

I noticed that my oval toolbox didn't have a lock when it had around 300 miles on it, but as mentioned before the inside rubber grommets keep it secure, and its a really very tight fit. I have around 4800 miles on my C5 so far
