Righty ho folks, here's an update.

So I'm back from a wee vacation and it was time to take the motorcycle to the dealership today, a Saturday here in NZ. I reached at 12.30pm only to later realise they only open till 12 on a Saturday!

Bummer, right? No!

As soon as I reached the dealership (a half hour ride) and restarted the motorcycle, the light is gone. Vanished! Okay! Had tried resetting it a million different ways but no cigar. However, clearly something was reset somewhere and the lights gone and has not come back after a half hour ride!

So I'm probably just going to buy that wee scanner, check any stored fault codes myself,  and not worry about this for now. The bike was running normal anyway.

Sometimes you do catch a break, afterall!

Cheers,
S

Update:

About a thousand or so kilometres later, the EML light stayed gone, which is great. Also - my scanner finally arrived which I hooked up to the motorcycle today.

Ha! The usual suspect - error P0106 with the MAP sensor.

Shall I just go ahead and clear this one? Or let the dealer take a look regardless? The bike runs like a dream as before. My next service is not due for another 1000 kilometres.

San

If it were my bike I would clear it and see if it comes back. It's very likely the dealer would do that anyway.

Dealers would see this as $$$$, Start changing all sorts of things, probably never resolving the problem.
If it ends up warranty then $$$$$, RE pays.
If you had a good rapport with your dealer/service group then maybe $$$ out of your pocket.
Yep, your own scanner, ELM327 from china, cheap as chips, hook it up to the EURO 4 connector,
cable and plug can be bought cheap as well, all up about $15.
You then have a say in what may need to be done if there is a real continuing issue.

Update: Had cleared the code a couple of weeks ago.

About 600 or so kilometres of fairly 'purposeful' riding later, the code has remained gone.

Happy camper! These scanners are worth the money and then some!
