Title: Bullet500Dude's Bullet.
Post by: Bullet500Dude on September 26, 2007, 06:38:45 am
Hey Ya'll !  Thank you all for the nice comments about my baby.  Well, Thumper wanted to know more about her, and I'm more then happy to tell you all about her.   :)  <>  OK.  As for the polishing.  It helps to be a bi-polar, obsessive/compulsive, anal - retentive, perfectionist, have several cases of Budweiser, and some other intoxicants I won't mention to get one looking like her.  lol   <> The alloy was all hand worked, and polished.  I started with various small finishing files, and began smothing all the rough edges for hour upon hour.  Beteween every spoke on the hubs, all the case castings, ect.  Then you get some 150 grit emery cloth, and start working on the real rough areas for countless hours.  Then get some 180 grit emery, an work over those areas for dozens of hours again.  Then get some 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper, and wet sand for dozens of hours. Then repeat the process with 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500. Dozens of hours each. Clean completely with mild soap solution, and rinse. <> Now go to the liquor store, and buy some more Budweiser .  Then go to paintstore, and get some 3M heavy duty rubbing compound, and  Wal-Mart to get about 5 bundels of white terry cloth towles in the automotive section. Rub every inch of alloy vigorusly, and wipe off.  Repeat this process about 4 to 6 times. Clean it all again. <>  Now go back to the liquor store for more Budweiser, and to Wal-Mart from 5 more bundels of towles. Go out to your local truck stop, and buy some green and white liquid jewelers rouge.  Start with the green, rub and wipe about 4 or 6 times, and clean again. Now 4 or 6 times with the white, and clean. <>  Back to the liquor store for more Budweiser, and to Wal-Mart for more towles.  Stop at Pep Boy's, Autozone, or where ever, and get some Mother's Bullet alloy polish. Rub it about 2 or 3 times.  You are now done polishing, and an alcoholic. lol   <>  The modifications, and customizing I've done is mind boggeling. lol   I ripped her down to nothing, and repainted everything but the gastank.  Every nut and bolt is stainless steel I got at the bolt store, and polished in the same basic mannor as the alloy.  I've also added Drag Specialities bungee nuts . I added CMW's battery relocator, and I fabbed up the coil mount.  The horn mount is an item CMW sold a few years ago, and discontinued.  The taillight, and shock covers are from Hitchcock's.  I fabbed up the toolbag mount.  She has CMW's soloseat, and pussypad.  I polished the rectafier, and regulator.  I made the mudflaps.  The passenger pags, and mounts are Drag Specialities. front, and rear guards are from CMW.  The throttle assembly is from Flanders and modified, and the cable is made from Yamaha/Suzuki/Universal cables.  All the rest of the cables are CMW's preamiums.  The barend mirrors are made by Napolen, and the handgrips are Grab On's. <>  Now for mechanical.  Topend - CMW's Ultimate rockers.  Hitchcock's steel pushrods, and adjusters. ( they stay adjusted ).  Head was ported/polished/relieved/unshrouded valves,Kibblewhite Black diamond stainless steel valves(1.95 intake/1.85 exhaust),Kibblewhite guides and seals.  Amal 32mm MK2 carberator( JUNK), UNI airfilter, Drag Specialties chrome billet fuelfilter.  Stock short header, Cobra stainless T-bolt exhaust clamp, revirse cone megaphone ( FREAKING LOUD   ;D )  CMW's 9 to 1 compression piston( going to 535 this winter.  Hitchcock's high volume oil pumps, and oilfilter packer.  CMW's Buleprinted cluch basket assembly( NICE :) ). DRS's shifter bushing kit.  18 tooth countershaft sprocket.  <> Well, I think that about covered it.  lol

All that polishing - I don't think it was all tedium, but maybe you enjoyed seeing it come up bright a little.  Questions: I take it you did the polishing while the bike was mostly disassembled?  Also, will it be difficult to keep the polished parts maintained?  I guess living in the dry area you do will help.  Quite an inspiration to see something like that.  Thanks for the photos.  Larry
