A couple of comments here. You might have your rear wheel alignment checked and I don't care for the Ceat tubes used on my 2020 INT. They are very thick and heavy for road tubes. I had to replace the rear tube early on and went with a Michelin Road Tube.

Another option for selling a bike is the consignment route. Not all Dealers will agree to it but I think you'll generally do better financially than trading in. There is ,of course, a commission fee but the bike will generally get more exposure and importantly you avoid strangers snooping around your premises.
I love my Meteor but as others have said, if I could find a RE 650 powered bike with the extreme comfort of the Meteor, I'd be tempted to change up. I'm falling hard for the Shotgun in gray and waiting on the new Classic 650 as well.

I've done a lot of riding in the past and after a pause of ten years just recently (2 years ago) picked up motorcycling again.
But even with that experience I find it difficult to tell exactly what I felt during those test rides. And what you feel or what you think you feel are two different things that are often not easy to tell apart.

But in the end what's important is how the bike feels for you when you ride it. If you're happy with the Ceat's, that's fine.
I just wasn't and on the total cost *) upgrading the tires was not a very big deal so an easy decision to take.

*) Motorcycles and cars in The Netherlands are rather expensive, we have a tax (on top of the VAT) that most other countries don't have. Sometimes when I see the prices quoted on this forum for new or second hand Enfields in the USA it almost makes me cry when I think of what I paid for mine  ;D

650 Interceptor & Continental GT / Re: Belt drive conversion?
« Last Post by Re-Cycle on Today at 01:30:36 pm »
It's because you are using facts to argue with feelings and that will never work. Belt drive is clean, quiet and almost maintenanace free, so what's not to like?

PS. I've heard the same arguments regarding belt drives on bicycles.
On a bicycle it is a fact that a belt drive has more energy loss than a well maintained chain drivetrain. So belt driven bicycles are often used for commuting, where the fact that you have almost no maintainance to do is an important aspect. Also you cannot use a belt on a derailleur drivetrain, so you have to have a bike with hubgears, a single speed or a gearbox like Pinion. On full suspensions the belt tension is something to take care of, the frame or rear triangle has to be split to get the belt on or off... which usually means a belt-specific frame design.
So there are pro's, but there are con's as well. So it's up to personal preferences, use, etc. which works best.

As far as converting my Conti to belt drive, I don't see enough advantages to do that. I ride 3.000~4.000km a year and never in the rain if I can avoid it. A chain will do fine.

But it's good to have the choice if anyone wants to do the switch, so kudo's for the nice work!

Where would one acquire these belt drive systems? Cost?

I get those questions all the time, and some either do not get it, do not want to get it, refuse to have an open mind, refuse to accept the science, invent problems that do not exist, like the oily mess, traditionalists (ironically the first bikes were belt drive), Pendants, and fret over warranty........pretty sure I missed something

That’s rad!
But I already have a 40-ish horsepower RE bike.
Give us more power lol.

650 Interceptor & Continental GT / Re: Rear Brake Failure

I had no rear brake and air in the line after foot peg relocation and installing a longer brake line. It just took a series of hard rear braking and an additional bleed procedure to get the air out.

Increase displacement and power across the line if they want more sales in the USA. Their 350 shouod be at least a 500 single, 650 better yet. The 650 meteor looks great, but bump it up to an 850 or better. Most people woulod gladly pay the extra $ for more power.
