So yesterday I was trying to remove the air filter on my 2013 b5 to clean it and the holding nut just wouldn't budge. I tried WD40, several times, but nothing. Eventually I just decided enough is enough and just put some proper force on it and managed to free it. Apparently the last time it was at the dealer they decided to loctite the nut. The End result is that I now have a twisted air filter mount... Called them and their response was "can't do anything about it". Do you guys know if you can separate the air filter box lid from the rest of the box? It seems to me that it's held with some kind of long pin, but I could be wrong. I want to separate the lid, so I can either straighten the twisted mount and paint the inside of the air filter box or replace it but keep the original lid since the original paint and pinstripe are in great condition. I know it's just a niggle, but I like to keep my bike the best I can, even if you can't see it.
