Title: 20,000 Miles
Post by: baird4444 on July 27, 2007, 01:23:00 am
I just turned 20,000 miles on my 2003 Bullet.
What is considered "high" mileage??
How many miles do you have?

I have no where near that - but that is not high mileage yet. The old Bullets used to need a bit of work, when they got to 50,000, with the Indian models I would assume a little less, before rebuilds are needed.  But, it all depends on how you treat the bike - I have seen one, cleaned regularly, but mechanically ignored, that needed a complete rebuild after 12,ooo miles.  The most I have heard of, on the same engine, is a guy in Madras with 190,000 miles.

My 2000 RE500 Classic has 5800 miles on it since I bought it new. Going for top-end rebuild at 10,000 just like the guys did it in the old days. Am going to hop it up some also, hoping for about 30 blistering horsepower. Dew.
