Anybody got a lead on RED lenses for the factory turn signals ?
-
I believe these were used on some recent Yamaha cruisers. Pop by the dealer and take a look. If you find a model they're used in, I'm sure you can get red lenses for it.

I had replaced the front turn signal
red amber or whatever the OEM color lens with a Kawasaki Vulcan's lens. I think front and rear are the same ? Details in the link -

I don't think red is legal in the US for anything but tail lights and brake lights.

I'm looking for RED lens that fit the factory turn signals.

I thought RE or Hitchcocks sold red lenses...I can't see any issue, cars have red lenses for turn signals in taillights. I imagine on the FRONT of a bike you might find an issue.
-
I have also seen a number of cruiser bikes with red rear turn signals. Usually they are the bike Harley and clones.

Front turn signals must be amber. Rear turn signals can be amber or red.

nothing but amber in the 2013 Hitchcocks online catalog.
If I find them, I'll draw up a small resistor/diode circuit to convert the rear to light 50% with the tail-lamp, and flash 100% with the trafficators.

Correct. One reason to use red would be to have them double as brake lights.

Just put the red led lights in the turn signals and they light up - you cant tell the lens is amber over the top of them they are so bright.
These are matrix bulbs that shine back onto the reflector and out at the same time

This unit cancels your turn signals and makes them flash rapidly with the brake light when it is on.
This is a great little unit but you have to have the KISAN SM-2

AND if you want it to work - make sure the green on the unit is WELL grounded. May have to switch the red and white and the white wire if the unit doesnt work and the polarity is wrong.
The foam plugs are best for cancelling the turn signal switch locking but they have to be trimmed down to about 60% of original width.
The wire harness to the rear fender lights is the easiest place to hook the harness for the running lights to .
Great tech support but make sure you have the LATEST version and check the wires as you go.

Too much tech there drb.
I'll just keep hunting for the red lenses. as for the electro-logics, well - I can do it better and cheaper than your advert product there.
-
Well the LED bulbs are a direct swap and the electrics you can do yourself ! I tried as you to find red lenses and gave up -- yu may find some other bikes use the same lamps
-
I can do it better and cheaper...
I don't doubt it! Will you keep us informed of your progress?

You could also go with clear lenses and red tinted bulbs. Or get clear lenses and red tint them yourself. I'll try to make it to the shop soon and see what brand/model it was that uses the same turn signals, uh, I mean 'trafficators' ;)
