Title: Good news for Luddites
Post by: Kevin Mahoney on December 09, 2008, 05:56:14 pm
I got confirmation from the factory today that the G-5 and E-5 (which we haven't talked about much, it is basically the Electra with an EFI engine) will come with a kickstarter as standard equipment. So to summarize, the C-5 will NOT have a kickstarter, the E5 and G-5 will have a kickstarter.

Kevin, thanks for the update and final word on: "To kick start or not to kick start?"  (That was the question!)

Cool!  Choices are good.  So, what kind of SPRAG gear will it have?  Surely it must be better than the current one, say yes?

Somebody mention my name?

Ace Luddite, reporting for duty! ;D

Actually, I think they are leaving it off the C5 as a puzzle project for their Luddite customers like me, because they know their customers can't leave anything be, and will try to cobble a kickstarter onto the C5 anyhow.
They know we like to tinker with things.

I haven't had a street bike with a kick starter in........ I've never had a street bike with a kick starter.  Just the dirt bikes and they were all 2-strokes.
IF the starter won't do it, Isn't it still possible to bump-start the bike?

Not mean to me - as I've said before, unless it's some kind of a "classic", (a true classic, which to me means old),  I'm not going to own a motorcycle that I have to jump up and down on to make it run.  If it HAS a kicker as a backup, fine, BUT:

Electricity has been around for a lot longer than kick starters.
