Title: Seat Height on the Desert Storm Military Classic
Post by: Taylorcraftbc65 on November 29, 2012, 12:43:40 am
Hay folks, My sweetie pie and I are getting ready to get a matched pair of desert Storms, but there is one possible sticking point, and that is that she is vertically challenged. How high off the ground is the seat on one of those?? She is an excellent rider, but needs a seat height of 27 inches or less in order to have both feet on the ground at a stop light. I tried looking on the web site, and there is a lot of info listed, but NOT the seat height.

For what it's worth, the stock seat is very flat--changing to a solo seat with a curved seat pan is going to drop the standover a bit.

Internal spacers to drop the fork's ride height are pretty easy to install, as are slightly shorter rear shocks.  Basic Hagons are pretty inexpensive and perform better than stock by all accounts anyhow.  (Dunno about clearance under the fender in such a case but am sure something could be worked out if necessary.)

If ya need more fender clearance, put on some Pirelli MT66s.
That'll get her closer.  Then you can use shorter shocks. However this will slow the steering down.

Not if you shorten the fork, too...
