Title: Carb adjustments
Post by: Dhastings1954 on November 06, 2012, 11:08:12 pm
Hi,
Looking for easy to understand method for adjusting the needles on my 1998 Bullet 500 iron barrel.
Manual instructions not very clear.
What I have done in the past is what I have done with other 4 cycle engines. Adjust air screw to app 1.5 turns out and then adjust idle screw to good idle speed. Then open or close air screw till I get a smooth throttle response under load, and readjust idle screw accordingly.
Any better advice?
Thanks
Duncan

That's the process, assuming you have correct jets in the carb.
Whether the correct jets are in there depends on your altitude above sea level, temperature range, and any modifications to your intake filter and exhaust system.

While trying to wrap my head around the little vm28 my bike came with, I found a couple resources you might find useful as well.
