I am lucky enough to own a 1957 Indian westerner (west coast scrambler/west coast woodsman if you prefer...). It's fairly original as it came but one thing bugs me. I have noticed that almost all RE Indian models have 'Bates' style single seats fitted (including mine). Now it may be that this was just what you did when you got your new Indian; chuck the funny dual seat and fit something better, but I have a suspicion that this may have been done by the dealer prior to delivery. If so was it a 'genuine Indian' spare part?
Someone is selling an Indian accessories catalogue of the right vintage on Ebay at the moment. However he wants US$ 200. I also came across a reference to a dealer catalogue that was sold before I started searching. The listing for this said it had a note on it saying it was 'confidential, for the dealer only and not for the general public'. Was this something different?
Does anyone know if there were just one or 2 accessories catalogues? And does anyone have one they don't mind scanning (or selling at a fair price)? I'd like to get copies of any books that concern my pride and joy. I already have the manual and spares list.
Failing this is there anywhere else on the internet I should be asking this question please?
Thanks for your help, folks.
