I know some of you are using the Mussette style saddlebags on your bikes. I have seen these advertised with dimensions given as being 12 x 12 x 6 inches. I like the style of the bags however I was thinking of using some plastic file folder boxes as inserts in them but the closest ones that I can find dimension wise actually measure 13-3/8 x 6-3/4 x 11-3/4 inches. The 13-3/8 width occurs at the top inch or so of the box with the bottom portion measuring approximately 12 inches wide. I have attached a photograph of the boxes that I was looking at.
My thoughts were that if these could be inserted into the bags that they would provide a weather proof enclosure and with the integrated handles in the lids, they could be easily removed. Heck with them being plastic one could fill them with ice and 'beverages' if one is so inclined.
Anyone care to post actual dimensions of their similar styled bags?

I've got the canvas mussette bags on my '08 Classic.
They're 12" high, 11" wide & 6" deep. The top flap & straps will close over something higher than12".
(That huge muffler is long gone).

Dimensions of my bags are W17" H12.5" D5"
Heavy duty canvas, brass fittings, straps galore, pockets front & aft for stuff requiring fast access.

Hi Ex, I have the same musette Bags for my bike, be warned that the bags have different dimensions although they are made by the same manufacture, I basically used styrene from 'Tap Plastics " a local California plastics shop. I measured the internal dimensions of the bags & had them cut to size. I now have a great set of bags.
Cheers
