LOL - It was my fault, I started the butt conversation in the middle of the thread, and didn't mean to do it!  ;D

Yes, it is a pretty fast bike... compared to 300cc classic bikes I've driven in my earlier days :)

I have a bit of a problem with the stock seat as well; at the moment I use a sheep skin (see pics) but I can't say that it's a massive improvement. Think I will go for a 'bespoke' seat as I have not much trust in the touring saddle ( based on feedback from others).

Where did you get the side saddlebag and the frame? Is there an online link you can share? I have that in my todo list... having a place to keep some stuff definitely helps go on a longer rides or even to work.

And then segue into an argument about the body steering myth Vs countersteering  ;D

Hi Gizzo and I can help segue that one... 1st few weeks with a Spyder- to lean or not to lean is the question 🤣🤣🤣 and my brain still makes me grab for that non-existent front brake lever🤔

I would lean slightly forward and inward towards the direction of the turn. You really want to keep that inside front wheel on the ground, though I believe you have stability control standard. I used to pilot a sidecar, entirely different leaning behavior but you still lean if you are moving fast.

my only experience on a Spyder was the second range day of the MSF course...I'm pretty sure they stressed leaning the body into the turn....

Grabbing for stuff that is "not there" was a problem for me too.

Luckily both of my scooters have a front brake on the right handle bar and a foot pedal for the rear..(just like  a motorcycle)...but I rode a Vespa the other day , and it has two hand brakes on the bars...like a bicycle!  I was stomping my right foot  but nothing there!

My one scooter has variatior transmission so no shifting....so the left had does nothing but hold the grip.

But my other scooter is 4 speed transmission...but a sort of semi-automatic clutch....so you have to shift with the left foot...but no clutch lever...but I grab for it anyway..but after long rides on this scooter I sometimes shift my motorcycle and forget to pull the clutch...duh...

On top of that, the 4 speed scooter is ....all down is neutral....one up is first, two up is second etc...no neutral between first and second....on top of that it is heal and toe shift....heal for up shift, and toe for down shift...

So you have to mentally adjust, for the vehicle you are riding!

In the mid 70s I owned a Yamaha RD350 and at the same time a Bultaco 175cc. The Yamaha had left foot gear change with right foot brake, the Bultaco right foot gear change with left foot brake. I used to get that all kinds of wrong all the time.  Rode a Suzuki Address scooter as a loan bike during a warranty fix for another bike,  no gears,  right hand front brake,  left hand rear brake. Took off from the kerb with full throttle, thought gear change time now, big handful of the left hand lever ready to change to next gear, back wheel lock up, oops!

Guys we should write a book (or at least a thread) as a student, photography wasn't deemed a "funded" course so to finance my studies I drove dump trucks on a British Coal site dumping slurry (think of liquid mud but being coal dust and water!!!) if you were lucky an Auto CAT or Articulated Volvo- unlucky a BELHUS - Russian version of an American WW2 Truck, left hand drive, manual that needed one foot  on clutch (double  de clutch non synchro ) and one on the gear lever and "kick into gear" with the hand to just give General direction...🤣🤣🤣 steering was even worse and after 16hrs you knew about it!

My view with regard to the Interceptor is that it has enough performance for today's road conditions (in the UK at least). The power/torque to weight ratio gives it just about enough get up and go to be entertaining without being overwhelming. I believe that this performance balance suits the style of the bike perfectly. If I were to tinker then maybe another 10 to 15 horses could add a little more sparkle but overall (at present) I'm perfectly happy with the style feel, character and performance.

Quite right Haggisman- stability control apparently measures wheel / handlebar angle compared to speed and goes SHIT! and promptly reduces drive (rear) and brakes a front wheel!  way too many electronics but FUN and does feel less vulnerable on Freeway/ Motorways 👍
