Title: chain adjustment with sidecar
Post by: AwL on April 12, 2013, 04:53:16 am
Hi - threads about chain adjustment for solo bike talk about 2" play with bike on centerstand.  What chain adjustments would folks suggest for bike with sidecar (tires on the ground)?  Just attached a pre-1989 California Companion sidecar on 2009 G5 - works a lot better than previous, heavier hack.   Thanks, Al

With the rider on the bike the 1" play should be adequate.

Chain tension as a rule is 1" per foot (1/2" on center). I keep mine at 1" at the tightest point on the tension (driven) side of the chain (in our case upper or top side). In setting the tension, you should roll the sprockets and check the chain tension at all points if possible.
