What will be the expected life of Brembo Sintered Disc Pads used in Interceptor/GT 650 tried the organic Disc Pads at rear wheel according to me the stopping power is more when compared to the Sintered Pads.

Sintered pads cost 2300/- for rear disc and organic pads cost just 280/- when compared cost the organic pads are much much cheaper

Nope these are the rear brake pads for Interceptor/GT 650 made by brembo and comes as oe fitment

If you're worried about cost, buy the organic pads. They'll work fine on the street anyway, and shouldn't wear the disc out as quickly. Have you really worn out a set of rear pads on your new 650?

Not worried about the cost just want to know the real difference between sintered and organic pads I know organic pads wear out very fast compared to the sintered pads. Have tried the organic pads for 1000 kms and feel they have more bite compared to the sintered pads initially but once they are warmed up they dont grab much like the sintered pads but in case of sintered pads feel there is less bite initially but once warmed up they grab much better.

Also observed that the brembo sintered pads have been worn out about half in just 6000 kms is that ok

Sintered pads work much better in the rain than organic pads.  They can also last a lot longer.  My BMW uses Brembo brakes and the pads can easily last 40K miles - at least the front ones do, the rear pads don't last as long.  The original pads that came on my 1991 K100RS were still looking OK when I sold the bike after riding it 62K miles. But you had better have quality discs or the sintered pads will eat them up.

Organic pads have nice brake feel when they're cold. But they fade faster then sintered if you get them hot,as you've observed. And they wear out faster. But they care for the disc.


Guess it's a personal choice and you need to go with what you prefer. Swings and roundabouts.

I have a question!

Bike: Interceptor 650

Which brake pads do you recommend to an average bike user who travels 25 km a day in typical Indian traffic?

Will the organic ones work well? I am trying to go with the sintered brake pads but I'm a bit worried that they eat up the rotor much faster.

Also, which brake pads do the Royal Enfield provide in general?

Hi Karthikesh

You can use Thunderbird rear brake pads these are organic and dont last much compared to sintered pads. On my Interceptor 650 organic pads last 4500 kms almost half life when compared to sintered ones.

I am back to brembo sintered pads.
You can get the Thunderbird rear brake pads at at RE Dealer as all the bikes now have rear disc brakes

I came across this review of SBS sintered pads, which describes a 'spectacular' improvement on Bybre originals on a KTM.

The cheapest ones you can get.

If you're worried about rotor wear, get the organics.

Also if you're more concerned with rotor wear than stopping performance, get organics.  Sintered pads would be a waste of money.
