Worm nut is left hand thread. You turn in the opposite direction to get it off.

Timing pinion needs a puller. There is a factory one, but it is soft and it bends. I got a good quality battery terminal puller that fits, and it works well. I put the puller on the pinion and tighten it up to load up some pulling pressure, and use a propane torch to heat the gear. At some point, the gear makes a loud bang, and it pops free. Then you can pull it off the rest of the way. If you damage it, just get a new one.

Picked up a puller...but not soon enough for my appt for cataract  surgery...wich went well, but doc says throw away the key to the garage six weeks...
