Hey guys,

I'm not sure why we're a bit scared by low idle RPM on UCE. It is still possible, and I think the oil pressure at low RPMs is adequate. Many riders in the domestic market have the idle at a resting human heart rate, and the bikes keep on going.

Have a listen to a few examples:
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltkJRE5GLbY
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwNQvMYFqT4
- http://youtu.be/nozB-Q-jg90?t=40s
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q45wVyr3hds
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj3QtoJWHFU
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI1ihE-zXzQ

Thing to note is that they're all on carbs, with auto decomp removed. On my B5 (EFI), with the decomp removed, I have the idle set around 800-900RPM. IMHO, low idle speeds are OK with these bikes as long as you have the auto decomp removed.

On the next scheduled service, I plan to record the voltage at the battery terminals on low idle RPM and will upload a short video clip on YouTube. Will report here on the forum. Unless Harsh can have a quick look/check before me  8). With the ECU and other sensors connected, there's a good chance that the system requires a decent amount of juice at idle, as compared with the carb versions.

I do have the number with me  8)
Did set my RPM around 900.
With ignition key turned OFF, Battery voltage was 12.44V
With ignition key turned ON, Battery voltage was 12.18V
At idle, Battery voltage was 12.30V
I think I need to keep the idling high in order to keep the battery in a good shape :P
Note: I have removed the auto decomp

Autumn is finally here (well here in Perth / Oz) Easter Monday, so put the pillion seat on and took my wife for a blast - 70km, no issues after standing for some months and happy at 90kmh two-up (with the odd 100-105 blast) this followed a Lotus club run on the sun involving following a treasure hunt, egg search & a full breakfast - much more relaxed than normal as  Double Points & Fines on Holiday Weekends  >:( ! Then both the C5 & Esprit got a Wash & Wax  :) whilst I waxed myself with a glass or two of Red  ;)

Thank you. That seems fair. Was that with the headlight/parking lights on?

Yup, I have the headlight and the parking light always ON.
I am probably going to change it to a LED.

changed tyre pressure gauge to a digital one from my pencil one.

slightly different readings, gone with the slightly higher digital reading, more confidence in the turns. either that or the weather's warmer and better for the tyres.

Took my 2012 B5 for the Annual MOT (although it ran out in October last year!)
First real ride on her since September when she was laid up after the swingarm pivot bolt snapped. A bit of a stutter from idle to 20 mph, could be the fuel, could be the spark plug as she's still on the original. Otherwise everything seemed to be fine. Mot went ok apart from an advisory for the rear tyre sidewalls starting to surface crack and the rear wheel slightly out of alignment. A bit strange as I'd used a laser to align the chain, so is my rear sprocket not parallel with the wheel.....hmm further investigation needed I think.
But The Enfield passed the test, I hope to get more miles on her this year as she only did 390 miles last year. Just need to purchase road tax to be fully legal. Hoping to attend the 'Royal Enfield Ride' in at the Sammy Miller museum in the New Forest on Sunday.

As it turns out, the digital reads 1psi higher and reads in 0.5 decimal increments which is a bit disappointing but still.

2012 B5 on Avon AM26 (90/90F, 100/90R)

digital - 27F, 29R which when using the analogue over the last year or so has been 26F,28R

They 'felt' harder straight away but I can't remember if this felt the same when I tried 28F, 30R when using the analogue. Perhaps that's a placebo effect with numbers.

Seemed better in the damp today as well, but as always, it's not a spirited ride on the way to work and was bone dry on the way home.

In other news, read some good things about the adjustable levers that are available and as the GPZ has them I've felt a bit spoilt so that may be next on the extravagant purchase list haha.

Finally figured I had my fuel tank leak fixed after doing a pressure test, changing the fuel line and the clamps. Got it insured and went for a quick ride. Found I'm still leaking fuel from somewhere. Another tear down and perhaps search for a newer tank. ????
