It's just like riding a snowmobile!  Ok, no it's not, but I dress the same.  ;D  It only got sketchy on the 1 side street that hadn't seen any sun and was ice pack.  It was actually so cold I had to put a piece of Gorilla Tape around a good part of the air cleaner to choke her out a little.   :)

Here's the thing - look at the condition of the blacktop on Scottie's "snow-covered" road:

Now, take a look at what our roads are like:

That's because in Denver they use mag-chloride.  It melts the snow and then evaporates.  No crappy sand left on the streets and intersections.   :)

So..... You spend all winter on bodywork and paint building a concourse ready vintage cafe bike, then stick duct tape on it and take it out in the snow?  I knew there was a reason I liked you :)

I took advantage of the seasonable weather by installing the Power Commander V. The install was pretty painless, Wildbill's writeup saved my bacon. That bit about the hairdryer for the fuel line is solid gold.

She gave me one good backfire before starting up, but she runs like a champ. Even the exhaust note sounds more confident and rounded, not as "sharp" as it used to. I've got the aftermarket silencer and filter, next step (maybe tomorrow) is the Lycett saddle and pillion... if I can ever figure out how to get those darn things on.

Can't wait til next Friday when I take her home.

I removed the snail cam adjusters on my B5 and replaced them with the threaded blocks. this should mean more accurate wheel/sprocket alignment.
I adjusted the chain after its initial settling in and gave it a good dowsing of chain lube. I also replaced the split pin with a stainless R clip.
Gave the rear wheel a clean up to remove the surface rust and chain wax.
Just need to put some miles on it now to build my confidence back after the chain failure...

Interested in this as I thought of doing it myself.  But, I can't find an R-clip which is a good fit.  They're either the right size, but made from too thin a wire stock, or the right wire stock thickness but way oversized otherwise...

Being in the UK, I bought mine from Hitchcock so are correct for the job.
I bought 2 so just measured the spare one which is 3.5mm or 0.138"
The fit is good but I had to be careful with the angle of the clip or the brake operating arm could make contact or force the clip off.
