This morning, I dusted the snow off of her (about 3" deep) and fired her up for a few minutes. She didn't want to start, but once she did, she was good to go. I will keep starting her every day until I get to ride again. Which will hopefully be next week.

....... thick strong leather...... cotton thread.......

you want to avoid cotton it will rot over time and the seams will fail. You don't want thread that can stretch and you need a UV protected thread.

Silicone-ing the metal lid to the filter worked marvelously, and given the dust/oil/goo that lightly coated both surfaces, should peel away easily when it is time to oil the filter, though I don't know that will even be necessary to oil it (removing the plate, that is), since I can spray it from the backside...

Wait, that didn't sound right....  ;D

It's just starting to cool off enough in SoCal to be comfortable riding again!

Rain, snow, sleet, and freezing rain here today in Portland along with winds up to 50mph.  Probably too cold to even go down and work in the garage.

Last night, after I got home from work, the temp was sitting somewhere around 35 F, I went out and tried to start her up. She fired up in under 2 seconds as if it was the middle of July.

I think I'm going to bundle up, go out to the bike, remove the bar controls, flip the bars over and start smashing my tank with a ball peen hammer.   ;D

I like brass and leather mallets for dimpling tanks.

Changed my Goldstar type silencer for a short bottle type & following Scotty Brown`s lead I ordered a Lycette type seat for my C5, can`t wait to get it.

I'm about to do the same once I get past the initial run-in period. I have one with steel baffles, the standard eBay item from India. How do you find it?

better bass & sound than the Goldstar which was a straight thru pipe with an aftermarket baffle I installed. The short bottle may be the same as yours a baffled Silman from India. Had to fabricate brackets & quality is ok, about the same as the bike actually

After riding to and from trade school, I came home and fitted a new brake assembly, old one's mounting clamp snapped after dad did it up  ::)
Took 30 mins and lubed my throttle and brake cable while I was in there, gotta fine tune my brake cable but all good.
I WILL lube my clutch tomorrow morning or at trade school, I like to do them in sets.

Then rode 20 miles to a massive car and bike show, two football ovals full of cars and bikes!

I rode into work today. She died about 2 miles from work. I performed an emergency side stand switch disconnect (used my knife to cut the wires), but that didn't fix the issue. I pulled the battery cover, moved the battery around and power came back. So, at lunch time, I am buying new battery cables and installing them.
