Hey everyone.  New to the forum.  Bought my black 2011 G5 a month ago and just passed 800 miles.  Most recent thing I have done is noticed a swirl scratch on my tank from a zipper.  Going to go buy some rubbing a polishing compounds this weekend to remedy this tragedy.

Compuond?  That sounds like work!  Just keep riding, the winter muck will cover all scratches soon enough ;)

Welcome aboard!

Rader,

Thanks for your service to our country.

Without the Marines, we would be in deep S*!t.

Sorry to hear about the scratch.

The first one hurts the worst.

Thanks guys.  My pleasure to serve.
About that winter...Good thing there isn't much winter muck in Orange County, CA!

Just went on a ride through Camp Pendleton with the wife. 65 degrees and a beautiful sunset. ;D

Will do!  Just took the wife to get some authentic Italian on the bike.  Updated the fuelly account.  Doing pretty good for carrying my wife around with me for half of each tank.

The third coast has good riding weather in the winter, but summer is miserable. I'd like to live on the left coast someday.

What the hell is that thing? It looks like a coffin for your pet chihuahua! Permanently attached to your RE. May be it would be a good thing if it did fall off. Forgo the locktite blue and maybe it will disappear eventually! Of course, what am I saying anyway, I'm planning on putting fanny packs on my military which is a little bit out there as well I'd say.

I don't care for the suitcase. Thought it was worth a shot, but it does look dopey. I'll probably get a Givi style case for it. Meanwhile, I do need some way to carry stuff. Not comfortable with the backpack route, though a lot of young guys do that.

I used a backpack on my Scrambler as my flight bag when I was flying. It actually worked quite well.

I use a Timbuk2 messenger bag.  They come in lots of sizes, are durable as hell, and nothing has ever gotten wet in it.  I like using a messenger bag because I use the same bag for my stuff whether I ride or take the car.  The tank bag is more comfortable since it's not on my shoulder but I found it was a hassle moving stuff back and forth from tank bag to non-moto bag.  In a pinch I can squeeze a gallon of milk and a few other groceries in on the way home.

Where we're you people when I posted pictures of the mock-up and asked for opinions? ;-)

It's just a relief to me that you have come to your senses. What about a tank bag. RE sells one but I'm sure that you could find one cheaper at leatherup.com Nothing to attach, it's held on by magnets.
