I sometimes have problems that the engine of my Himalayan just dies when rolling towards an intersection during downshifting.

It then starts up again immediately on the first try and continues to run normally.

Any ideas?

How many kms have you done? These motors take a lot of running in and those later efi models are set so lean that might be all it is.

I had the same problem, fitted a booster plug at the first 300 mile service and it has never happened since in 6,500 miles. It is a good fix for stalling and uneven idling.

I have already more than 5000 km on the clock….

So it's not that then. Try the booster plug as om15 suggests.

I had a similar problem. The booster plug fixed mine. I got a better deal from Europe than the US source I priced.

I have already tried a DIY Booster plug - it seems slightly better but not solved completely…

Might just need the idle speed raising a smidge?

That might help…

Especially when it is hot, it is fairly low at ~1000rpm.

Is the idle rpm adjusted with the Throttle Position sensor?

Thanks for hints…

There is a recessed brass screw on top of the throttle body. It's not the easiest to see or get at.
Have a look on YouTube.

Shawn Smoak does a video or two about TPS adjustment and the idle screw gets featured.

I have tried different Throttle Position sensor settings from 0,5 Volts to 0,65 Volts (as far as I know the recommended factory setting is 0,6 Volts plus/minus 0,02 Volt - can that somebody confirm please?).

I have also adjusted the idle rpm’s.

But still not found a perfect setting…

I have a K&N air filter and tried it with and without Booster Plug.

It is only not stalling, when the idle rpm is about 1350 rpm.  Any hints?

Thx in advance

Maybe time to get desperate.
Do you have a decent dealer you can take it to? Even if you have to ride a couple of hours, sitting and waiting for them to sort it might be worth it.
Of course, it'd have to be a good dealer - we have two here, one I wouldn't bother with and one I'd definitely go to.

I wanted to give an info again:

I adjusted the valves (were actually a bit tight), adjusted the TP sensor and set the idle very slightly higher.
Since now another 1000 km the stalling did not occur anymore. Happy again  ;D

Greetings

I have a 2019 Him and it would often stall in the way you describe.

Once it was out of warranty, I upped the idle speed slightly, and fitted a booster plug.

It has not fixed it 100% as it will very occasionally stall for no reason, but not often enough to cause concern.

When riding through built up areas I tend to blip the throttle at junctions so I dont get caught out by a random stall - I have heard tales of some Him riders being "tail ended" when their bike stalls.

I have also found that my Him runs noticeably better on E5 rather than E10, and supermarket fuel is a definate no, it runs best on "branded" fuel.

Not scientifially proven, but having tried E5 and both supermarket and branded fuels without doubt it runs best on branded - in my case Texaco E5.
