Title: Valve Guide Tool Needed
Post by: Rockdodger on October 24, 2007, 03:30:26 pm
Does anyone have a premium valve guide removal/fitment tool they aren't using? Classic keeps telling me they are out of stock. I'd gladly buy or even rent one.
Thanks

I don't have a tool, but my machine shop only charged 7.50 per guide to install ! Unless you're doing a lot,..............

Thanks, You've renewed my faith in machine shops. The first two I went to wouldn't even look at the head. I'll keep searching.

Find a small place, frequently places like NAPA have a machine shop in back. You most likely will not have any luck at chain stores like Checker, Pep Boys, etc.

Look for a small automotive machine shop - avoid engine rebuilders (automotive) because they are usually set up for production work

Check with a couple of local bike shops especially independent stores and see who they use.

Send it to Raceway Services in Salem Oregon (number on our dealer list)

As a last resort go to a Harley shop - Not because they are bad ( as a rule they are pretty good), but because they are usually way expensive.

Totally last resort, ship it to us and con us into taking it to a rebuilder. (Not your cheapest or even probably your best choice)
