... without range extender the EV's would appear pointless, at least for intercity traffic. The thing is if you travel an average speed of let's say 60 mph you would need on average maybe 10 horses. You can have a rather small ICE  even if it's not vankel to supply that average power required and still have an dynamic vehicle that makes 0-60 in under 8 seconds.

@ Reply #676: Toyota Prius has done this since 2001. Never yet put their D-4D diesel in them to pick up that last 20%. My old circa 2000, 50 HP Honda insight is a cruder but still effective version. Hybrids work and are practical.

The only problem is that I need a Prius as much hemorrhoids in my ars. I would never buy one, nothing against Toyota the GT86 seems fine.

BEV + Range extender would be a different thing than a hybrid, definitely a preferable solution for anyone who has the need to go there.

The cost of this parasitic self serving garbage is so high that I may be lucky to escape the gutter though.

The Prius routinely gets +50 MPG(US) and runs well beyond 300,000 miles with normal filter, plug & oil changes. For yeoman service they are tough to beat, they do the job and won't break the bank. They may not appeal to everyone, but they are a good tool in the basket for most. They work as both grocery getters and affordable vacation transport. If you have a biggo box of money to play with, economy & practicality don't matter a whit. If not, you could do a lot worse.

A mate of mine had one similar to that.

It had a bad habit of the throttle jamming at inopportune times.

The original CB750 was a stunning machine in its day. Out of the crate it made most everything else obsolete. You really have to hand it to Honda on that one.

Brilliant video. I had a Honda cb250 from that era,1976 and that colour blue. I stripped it down to paint the frame an 'MV Augusta red'.
