For the second time, a Royal Enfield Bullet, owned by Steve Linsdell and ridden by Adam Mclean, gained a 3rd place podium position  in the Classic Senior class of the 2924 MGP., beaten by a pair if Paton's (twin cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder machines)

43 years ago a podium position was gained for the first time by a Royal Enfield Bullet,  rider Steve Linsdell.

he MGP is short for Manx Grand Prix, and is a race for motorcycles which is held annually in the Isle of Man, a small island located between England and Ireland.
The race is on public roads, which are closed off for the occasion. A lap is 37.7 miles, and goes through towns and villages, and over Snaefell mountain. The Enfield has lapped at 109 mph, and was recorded through a speed trap atv144.225 mph.

This race is on exactly the same course as the TT (Tourist Trophy) race meeting, which is held a couple of months earlier in June/July

500 push-rod, 2 valve OHV single, and it still didn't go bang! Amazing...  :)

90 mm bore, 78 mm stroke, max power at 9250 rpm.

Pretty conservative with a mean piston speed of 21 m/sec

Why would it go bang ?

Sorry, 8250 rpm

Combination of sight and finger problems

While we are understandably not privileged to know the secrets of the engine preparation, I suspect there's something other than an OEM alloy con-rod in there!

It remains an amazing achievement. Probably won't do much for the sales of replica Manx Nortons and Matchless G50s, eh?  ;D
