Title: jumping out of gear
Post by: ukmarc on August 07, 2010, 04:27:48 pm
Hi All,
I'm Marc From England.
I have a problem with my early Indian 500 bullet 4 speed.
Its running fine it not a little fast at idle but that is easily remedied.
The problem is when I am driving and let the revs of it jumps out of gear .
Very frustrating is there any kind of pre load adjustment on these gearboxes its only done 14000 kilometers.
Many thanks and hello to you all Marc ;D

marc , tiz alan from the uk , the first thing i would check is the detent plunger

remove the outer cover and you will see it at about 10 past , this has a lock nut , hichcocks keep them part no 111094 @ £4.50 ,

slacken the lock nut , unscrew the plunger and fit the new one , winding fully in then back 1/2 to 1 1/2 turns , the flat on the plunger has to sit flat , this corisponds with the screwdriver flat ,

work in 1/2 turn incriments
