I bet RE is happy they've been expanding out of of India..  It seems for the 1st 8 months of this year, international sales is they're bright spot, with domestic sales pulling them down.

The UK dealer I got my Trials Bullet from recently said they are doing really well - every bike he had in the showroom was already sold. I bet Triumph dealers can't say the same....
Past: CB125-T2, T500, GT500, Speed Triple, 955i Daytona. Now: Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500

What's not to like? Affordable, practical hardware that doesn't break the bank. The 410 Himalayan and 650 GT/Interceptors are brilliant kit. The 500 & 535 UCE's properly stimulate the sense of nostalgia without recreating the drawbacks of real 1940's equipment. Few folks really need a 40 BHP dirt bike or can actually utilize a 100 BHP road burner.  8)  - ACR -
A trifecta of Pre-Unit Bullets: a Red Deluxe 500, a Green Standard 500, and a Black ES 350.

Let me add these two links that give a detailed look at the breakdown of exactly what RE sold in august of 2020, 2019, and September of 2019 and 2018.

https://www.rushlane.com/royal-enfield-aug-2020-sales-exports-12376038.html

https://www.rushlane.com/royal-enfield-sep-2019-sales-break-up-12327787.html

If I'm not mistaken, 2018 was the best ever sales year for RE.  Looking at this data, it's not hard to see why the 500 singles were chosen for the chopping block.  The data also shows the effect of the economic downturn and the pandemic in India.

RE sold 817 of the 650 Twins in Germany between January and August 2020. That is more than any Ducati, Triumph or Moto Guzzi. Two dealers mentioned they could have easily sold the double, if enough Twins would have been available.
