Asbo 44, before and after tuning. This one has the Amal carb conversion and valves and springs from Hitchcocks. I also did a bit of porting of the inlet and exhaust ports, enlarged the area around the inlet valve where the squish band masks it quite badly and shortened the cylinder barrel. I retarded the inlet cam by 1 tooth - both cams are still standard items.

Nice one  :)

Too bad the performance cams are not available anymore.

I don't know what would be the cost to grind stock cams at a cam specialist to at least increase the lift ?...

Well, as an one off, provided you deliver a stock cam a specialized shop will do it for something like +/- 300€/$, because they may need to make a fixture for them.

With H performance cams costing £210/245 € (when they are available), this is not too expensive.

The difference is that H says it creates his cams from raw cams, no re-profiled used cams. So maybe there is not as much room for creating a good profile ?...

H's probably make a large batch of cams to come up with competitive pricing.

There is enough meat on the stock cam thpugh to grind all sorts of profiles for experimental purpose.  ;)

The cams from Hitchcocks are completely newly made items, which come from the same makers as our own racing cams, and those several batches of 'S' cams I had made a few years back. That said, the standard 535 GT cams have plenty of material to spare on their base circles and I have a spare set which I may get re profiled, I have had this sort of thing done in the past for not huge amounts of money.

Phil Joy builds up cams from standard, adds material without turning down the base circle. In ten years of hard use I had no problem and precious little wear. That was on one of my DR400 twinshocks. However that cam doesn't run a phosphor bronze bush
