Did a bunch of riding on the old MG V7R. Cafe Racer 59 Club group ride Saturday to a Car/motorcycle show. I missed most of the rain on that one! The BSA Club Hansen Dam ride on Sunday, 225 miles, beautiful day. Post office today and school for a Photography class I'm dabbling in. I get a DSLR (Canon T5I) a while back and need to get some inspiration to use it!

Today's beautiful weather saw me on the MG Breva 750 going 77 miles.  Three killer bees on their 4-cylinder rockets were making the highway very loud.  But they were soon gone.  The Guzzi got 57mpg for the tank, and it was a most enjoyable ride.

It was a smart choice to sell the CBR250R even though I loved the 'lil thumper.  The Breva is more satisfying to ride.  Also, twin exhausts under hard acceleration have a most pleasing sound.   ;D

Today (and every Wednesday) our local government has determined that my XL200 shall not be ridden between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. so as to "diminish traffic during rush hours.  BUT I needed to be at a meeting right in the middle of the restricted area at 8:00 a.m..  So I took the "3G Scooter" (Granny's Grocery Getter) and dropped my dearly beloved (the Granny to whom the 3G belongs) to work and took her bike to the meeting.  Afterwards we (the 3G and I) took a ride west toward Cartago, swung back along the alternate route to town and back to the house.  It was mostly WOT once we got out of town. That little Honda Biz100 has some get up and scoot - for a 7 hp (count them ponies!) bike!!!  It's actually kind of fun, quick and agile through traffic and capable of doing clear up to 95 (kmh - WOT - downhill) Once you hit 75-80 you'll find yourself reaching for the non-existent 5th gear. Yep, for highway riding, get another bike.  Still, fun was had, nose was thumbed at asinine regulations that drive the increase in the number of vehicles instead of providing less congestion, and things got done that needed done.

Oh, and once we got back to town I stopped by and picked up a new set of mirrors.  She's been complaining (occasionally) about the lousy mirrors, but I'd not ridden the bike in a while.  The old ones were starting to fog (lose their reflective coating, I guess).  The replacements are a bit taller and wider in the glass area and don't extend past the grips.  Overall it's a positive change over the old ones.

80 mile ride in the warm 70's here today.  The Guzzi ran wonderfully and I could have ridden all day, except for the lockjam traffic all over the place after noon.  Should have started earlier.  61mpg for the tank.

Back in the city, some young guy came out from a side street from a stop sign.  He looked to his right but not to his left.  Good thing I was paying attention and anticipating such nonsense, so there was only hard braking and loud encouragement from me to him as he nonchalantly drove away.  We really are invisible out there, even with high beam on, colorful reflective gear, and light colored helmet.

It has been a while since I've been around. Still putting on lots of miles. Latest is the acquisition of a hack I purchased in Phoenix and rode home to Minneapolis (1700 miles). Heck of a first ride on my first rig.

I have been remiss in keeping up with friends.
I've been riding in the summers, hiding from snow and cold in the winter, and now back home planning a few trips for the coming months. One with the new rig to the black  hills with the USCA, one back to the same area with the ST, and I hope to get out to South Carolina's Barrier Islands. The ST group has a couple of meets in Spring Green, WI, and one at Eagle Cliff Camp near Lanesboro. Last year there was a blue grass music festival at the campground to the east of Eagle Cliff. I had a great afternoon just listening to the music.
I plan to go  again.

Yesterday I put the new Dart Marlin flyscreen on the Guzzi Breva.  It fits any V7 Moto Guzzi, comes from England, and is very well built.  Dart makes a screen for Enfields, too.

The Dart screens do a very good job in smoothing out the air so the rider doesn't get buffeted with wind blasts.

After a lot of time spent in the garage I got 2 of my other bikes road-ready, insured and registered.  My 1984 Honda Interceptor bought new had been inoperative and ignored for maybe 10 years, but a few weeks ago, after a lot of work, it was taken for a ride.  It's as steady at a constant 80 MPH as it ever was and feels like its old self.  I also resurrected my Yamaha RD250 also bought new in '73 that hadn't been run for at least 20 years.  I turned in into a cafe racer in 1975 with rearsets, low bars and other mods like the 4-leading-shoe front brake off of a TD2B roadracer (I think) and this spring finally put chambers and a K&N filter on it.  I thought rejetting woes to be a big deal but it wasn't - I bought 2 new carburetors rejetted for those mods to the intake & exhaust and boy! does it ever get nasty at about 6000 rpm!  If you have a Yamaha RD-series to rebuild check out HVC Cycles.  They sell nos and repop parts of high quality for RDs and others; they are 2-stroke specialists, and helpful on the phone too.

What did I do today with my non-Enfield bikes?  I took both of them for a lengthy ride in the country today:

Yesterday I rode the Breva for 86 miles in the AM before the record-breaking temps came later in the here in the too-hot NW USA.  Riding in ATTGATT is more challenging above 80F.  58mpg for the tank fill-up.

Scotty, it sounds so different than other bikes that people turn to look at it as we pass by, and then frown at the smoke trail it's leaving.  It has a harder, more harsh sound above about 6 or 7 thousand rpm when the chambers come on line, and turns into a nasty little screamer.  The acceleration that accompanies the sound is fierce!  It would blow my GT off in a heartbeat and it has only 5 major moving parts.

I remember my RD 350. Below about 6,000 it couldn't pull the skin off milk, above...you better be holding on tight! But in the rain, I'm from Florida it rains a lot, it was more than a handful as it'd want to "Kick Out" all the time

I wish I still had that little bike though it was great fun.
