Title: Better Sparks
Post by: Guaire on May 10, 2019, 09:25:26 pm
Get a stronger spark out of your ignition with a much better coil, cable and cap.

Only required if running high compression or exotic fuels. This package introduces additional RFI/EFI into an already susceptible electronics package. 10 to 15kv is ample for these rudimentary types of motorcycles and the spark is not easily quenched with low compression and pump fuel.
The coil is basically a pulse transformer and the additional current drawn by the primary for a 30kv output in the secondary (5 ohm), may not be (either sink or source) tolerated within the ECU - you may probably slowly cook the ECU due to the extra current requirement. More is not always better.

I have always wondered about that. It always seemed to me that with the same type of garden variety engine like a lawnmower, RE, basic motorcycle, old cars that if you had enough voltage to jump the gap life was good.

If the items are correct spec, they will do fine. The items shown by the OP have been well tested for years in various Continental GT bikes with good results and no reliability problems. Tested in nearly stock bikes, and modified ones with nearly double the factory hp.

I do agree that randomly chosen out-of-spec items may cause problems in certain applications, and that perhaps a low state of tune engine may get by okay on a weaker spark.

So, please be assured that these kits are tested and proven to be fine in a Continental GT 535.

BTW, welcome to the forum, OLD FELLA.
