Title: California CARB certification
Post by: kaarigar on April 15, 2009, 04:39:12 pm
Hi Kevin,

You have mentioned in the Cycle World (May 2009) issue that there are efforts to get California CARB certification for the EFI models - and start selling in California for 2010 models. This is indeed a great news for us in California. Can you tell me if C5 is also included in this certification process?

Thank you!

Always puzzled me that Urals can be sold in CA but not Enfields, they are both
designs of a similar vintage.

Of course if they do sell in CA they'll be more expensive than anywhere else!

Agreed, but I found Bullets to be more reliable. Is URAL having EFI?

In that case buy it from across the border and own and ride it freely in CA ;D

Urals sold in CA have to carry special smog stuff and be certified. When an out of state dealer sells a ural to a californian, he has to add the package.

Urals are not less reliable than an Enfield.

No EFI yet for Urals, but it is coming.

I seem to remember that Kevin at one point said that the UCE isn't the problem, its the fuel tank that CARB has issues with.
