Rode the GT to work today in the dark, put my cover on.
Came out to our private carpet to shift it at lunchtime for a quick getaway after work- both my clock glasses are cracked! Almost identically, crack running from the bottom to 3/4 of the way across to towards the top.
Doubt that it was impact, looks more like stress.
Not very happy.

That sucks indeed!
A too sudden temperature change might be the reason, could that have been the case? Still should not happen of course.

It’s looking hopeful for warranty, Justin and Max at Retro Spares agreed that it looked like stress cracks. I’m wondering if putting the cover on while bike was hot caused a quick expansion of the gauge components by trapping the heat, although it’s a really lightweight cover. Only use it to prevent paint fade and keep the dust off😳

Fogging is normal. take the meters apart and clean the glass inside with neat washing up liquid like fairy or shaving foam. allow to dry and replace. no more condensation. old diving trick. Even if you get them changed the same will happen.
1/2 hour job.

Starting to get a little tense. No response from head office yet. I’m going to be really pissed off if they don’t warranty these gauges.

Just read on Facebook about a guy with cracked glass on his gauges,  the gauges were replaced under warranty, his new gauges have cracked as well. Not good

Yikes. I put my cover on every day, but not while it's hot. But the place I have my bike parked gets the full afternoon sun, and routinely hits 140F and sometimes 180F so I'm really counting on the cover's vents. So far no stress cracks but wow.

I wonder if it’s an edge of tolerance thing, as in the glasses are at the biggest tolerance and the housing at it’s minimum. PITA no matter what the cause. Thankyfor relaying that info, as well.👍
Thanks Steve

New gauges FINALLY arrived, getting fitted Tuesday week( first spare time I have). I’ve spoken to Dion, the mechanic, and he’s agreed to strip the old cluster down and see if a retrofit of the new cluster glass to the old cluster is feasible. Save all the stuffing around re odometer legalities can be dodged.

Got my cluster warranty replacement finally and my mechanic did opt for the glass swap over on my original cluster. Very happy to dodge the odometer legalities! He told me the stress fractures were greater than apparent and extended into the glass bezels.
