I wonder whether my oven I used for my DRZ engine would work? I think so, it's a metric oven.

That I don't know however a royal oven would sure work better.

Maybe we should ask Gordon Ramsay which one he would recommend.

Well, the good news is since the 650 came out the 535s sell for almost scap value, why not getting a new used one?

And than turn it into a Rolex on 2 wheels.  ;D ...in terms of function only of course.  ;)

Fixed my centre stand. Again. Last time, I welded some flat feet to the bottom of the tube feet things. That was to help it roll nicely off the stand. I thought it had fixed the problem at the time but turns out it still slides along smooth concrete without folding up. This time, I made a couple of little bushes that fit on the pins which set the angle the stand is at when it's down. My one, the stand goes too far over centre when the bike's on the stand. The bushes stop it going so far over. The stand legs are closer to vertical than before but not so close that the bike risks rolling off the stand by itself. Now it actually comes off the stand with no sliding and very little effort. Thank goodness.

Nice job, I must have accomodated myself to the centre stand, or mine may not go as much over the center maybe. Could be manufacturing tolerances on those welded things.

I think you might be right. No one else has mentioned having an issue with their stand. mine was terrible though.

The piston failure. Why it should size i don't know. Gap was pretty big, about 0,1mm...don't have the exact material specs though.

Bit of a mess. Stupid question : the oil pump is pumping oil, right?

Yes, it was. The steel chips accumulate in the engine sump. There is nothing else than the big end bearing that could have caused them.

I had a new oil pump around, so I threw it in anyway.

Right. I was just thinking, because I've seen it before: Metal chips get into the pump, strip the plastic gear, seize the top end.
