There is something about the term "fairly well organized pile of parts" that throws me off a bit.   ;D

C'mon - where's your sense of adventure?  :o ;D

You don't have a 3-D metal/plastic printer in your shop? Your 75' x 150' shop doesn't have a water jet & vertical end mill? A time portal back to 1950?

At least it'd be parts for someone's project, right?  ;)

In 1968 I bought a well organized pile of parts that was once a new Yamaha YA-6. The previous owner took it apart because the bike wouldn't shift gears (I guess that was before 1 year warranties) and then couldn't get it back together. I bought the parts for $75 and spent a winter putting them back together without a service manual. After assembly, the engine started right up, shifted into first gear and wouldn't shift any further. I eventually took the bike to a Yamaha dealer in Boston, who worked on it for a month, but couldn't get it to shift, either. He then sent it to the Yamaha distributor who did fix the bike by replacing one of the transmission cases, which apparently had a crack in it. I was only charged $100 for all of the work.  Ah, the good old days.  :)

Now, y'all  may want to sit down for this.... :o ;D :P :'(

1950 Matchless G80S with 1947 AJS Model 18 500cc motor, Velocette fork - $1,200 (Santa Barbara)

It's a nice bullshit story. I'm guessing Grampy shuffled off, left a leaky garage full of "project" bits and the fearless author rudely cobbled this POS together. It's more like a yard-art project than a bike or even just parts. But coming from Santa Barbara, mebbe the author even believes his own twaddle...
