Looks like Monument Valley, but I could be wrong.

I think so.

I probably shouldn’t be doing this

I had the privilege of riding there on a HD Electraglide on a tour of the south west USA back in 2011. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Probably the best motorcycle trip I've taken.

I dunno but if you see a sign saying "free bird seed" do not stop, or a giant anvil might fall on your head.

That road is called a "Scenic Byway" - US Hwy. 163 through Monument Valley. Where you see my Honda ST1100 parked in the photo is the exact spot that Forrest Gump stopped running, in the film by the same name.

It is an incredibly scenic area all around that part of Utah and Arizona, which I visited 4 times over 27 years with that bike. I used the town of Kanab, Utah as headquarters for great rides around the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Powell Lake and Monument Valley.

Anyone considering visiting the area should look up the Parry Lodge in Kanab as a motel to stay at. The property was developed for motel usage in the 1930's for the motion picture industry and was the away home for dozens of famous actors from the days of western movies. There are still the original cabins (updated) where the actors were housed and each one has a famous name above the door of one actor that had stayed in it.

I was in Fess Parker's cabin one year. There is also a more modern main, two story motel right beside the front reception and restaurant building. Inside the office/restaurant area there are hundreds of signed photos of actors who had stayed there. A real trip down memory lane for anyone that grew up in the era of cowboy westerns. Great buffet breakfast in the restaurant at a very reasonable price for guests.

At the back of the property is the old barn, where the horses used on the movie sets were quartered and it now houses a small theatre where they show old westerns each night during summer hours.

I stayed there every time I was there. Can't recommend the great roads and the Parry Lodge highly enough!

Just thought to add this too, as it is in the same area. If you want to experience a bit of a heart stopping ride, try the Moki Dugway, (Utah Hwy 261) which connects Utah Highway 95 with US Hwy 163.

It is a gravel road that winds its way almost 3 miles down a very steep cliff face. I encountered it on one of my trips to the area, with my wife as a passenger that time, while heading for Medicine Hat. We entered it at the top and my heart was in my throat most of the way down, as the gravel was quite loose, strewn with larger rocks too and there were motorhomes coming up at the same time on the quite narrow road.

We were on the cliff drop off side of the road going down and I gingerly had to stop a few times, as a motorhome inched it way past us and were were mere feet from going over the edge! Scariest bit of riding I ever did! Full kudos to my brave wife too, who could have gotten off and walked down, but kept herself perfectly balanced with the bike as we slowly made our way down.

I predict a great ride for you guys!  :)

Just noticed an error in naming in my post about the Dugway, It is Mexican Hat, not Medicine Hat, which is actually in Alberta, Canada.  :-[

Reading on a Honda ST forum today, which happened to have the same road as a topic of discussion, that particular stretch of road and the place where Forrest Gump stopped running, is now a favourite speed trap spot for police, so anyone going there be aware, as it is very easy, as I found 10 years ago there, to want to let 'er rip on those long stretches of straight road.  :(
