Has anyone added a tachometer to their RE Meteor 350? If so would did you get and how did you connect it, mount it?

Seen another 48mm tach by A German company MMB that seems like it would be compatible too.  Looks like it has multiple dip switch setting depending on ignition config/# cylinders.  Would be interested if anyone has experience with this brand/install.

Nice job! Could you explain the wiring connections please?

Also, what is that small digital window on the tach telling you?

Did you do anything with the Tripper? I wish that, instead of a clock (redundant, since there's one in the speedo), the Tripper had a compass instead as a default; it would be more useful than the clock, as it would still aid in navigation.

Here's one website for the MMB Tach:

       https://www.motorcyclestorehouse.com/product/940735

Sounds like they also have handlebar mounts available.

To answer one poster's question: Tachs need a 12V Pos from the ignition switch & another for a light, another wire to ground (earth), and a wire to the - Neg side of the coil. The tach "reads" the Neg side of the coil each time the points open.

OR there might be a tach terminal on the ECU which the bike's wiring diagram will show.

J&P & others have these small tachs. Always have.

RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.

How much cutting/splicing was involved with your install?

I would be a bit wary in case something goes wrong in the future the dealership could refuse to cover the repair.

They can just claim that you have invalidated the warranty messing with the electrics.

Hello Meteorite, almost nothing modified (I use standard connectors for 12v and the pulse from the spark is without contact)

Inspired by this thread, I installed a Daytona Velona tachometer as well. A fun project.

Here’s how I installed:
- Fashioned a mounting arm out of a single 5” flat steel corner brace (and used the included tach Y mount plate).  Attached the Y mount to my custom arm with some rubber washers for isolation).
- Attached the mount to the forward 6mm bolt holding up the tripper pod mount.
- Made an adapter “y” splice harness to tap into power at the horn (no mods to existing wiring).
- Wrapped the signal wire around the spark plug wire.
- Ran a ground lug to the frame using the cable mount bracket near the right side of the head tube.

Overall, I’m pleased with the clean install.  The tach has a quality feel and works great EXCEPT that when the horn is operated, it causes the tach to recycle/restart (must be starving the tach of power).

I suppose I’ll have to either find another power wire or add a new relay/line.  Anyone have suggestions of a good switched 12v line to use (preferably that you don’t have to cut/splice) or know of an empty fuse location to use as a new power tap location?

Looks good, it's only a matter of time before someone removes the tripper completely and puts a rev counter in it's place and uses the existing bracket.

I find the tripper very useful but yes, if someone doesn't use it this is a good place for the rev counter

Yes the Tripper is useful, but even better if you could choose between nav or tach.

Obv a bit of a pointless exercise when fitted to bikes that have a tach anyway but you know, options and all that :)

Does anyone in Australia have a source for this tacho?  I've uninstalled tripper and put my Xumo navigation in it's place but I'd like a tacho
