Title: Gearbox lubrication video
Post by: kaarigar on December 06, 2009, 02:40:58 am
I saw this video on you tube about the UCE gearbox lubrication:

It is interesting, can anyone explain how this video was recorded?

To my eye it looks like part of the gear box was machined away and a piece of lexan was glued in place.

Read all about it right here in the Buzz Blog (http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/blog/2009/09/tech-corner-uce-lubrication/).

I read something about a similar procedure in a British bike history book somewhere. Many years back engineers were trying to rectify oil starvation issues on a vertical twin of some sort. They installed Plexiglas windows into the crank cases so that they could directly observe oiling at high engine speeds, and thereby derive a solution to the problem.

Indeed, also as others pointed out.
