How long before Wildbill no longer has a Himalayan? Should we open a book on this?

This makes me giggle.

WildBill I'm probably late to the party but I have to ask, why don't fancy any of the legacy models 1995-2008?

I think all this purported buying and selling is just an elaborate ruse. I'm pretty sure our man WildBill is using all those bikes to outfit some personal squad of mobile marsupial hooligans deep in the outback. At some prearranged signal phalanxes of mounted wallabies and pitiless 'roos will descend on some small hamlet in the scrubs in a first strike towards eventual world domination. That's what I think. Best start digging those defensive trenches with spikey sticks now!

So badass my Enfield's actually illegal  in India. Yet it squeaks by here in Virginia.

I pity the poor people living in that village.  They will "roo" the day it happens.  :o ;D

at the moment been busy buying accessory for the Himalayan from all parts of the world...lol actually its a pretty good bike so at this stage its pretty safe. been thinking a bit too. I might try that hunting magazine later and see if I can get a Himalayan in there in a hunting story too.
I have a guy who want to be in a story. it may be a goer or may not but once I get the bike under control I will see if I can get it going or not. money wise its hardy worth the trouble for barely $300 a story as I can earn that very quick myself and do nothing or near nothing but this guy would like to be in print so I might see if I can swing it or not
as a point of interest for those who have never sat on or even test rode a Himalayan first off you'd be very impressed how well they ride compared to a c5 as they have very little to near no vibration.
although they are pretty poor in the front disc braking dept and the ride position is not that great either as the seat pushes you forward onto the tank.
but so far it appears to be a good starter runs well and cruises and handles nicely. is it better or as good as the triumph street scrambler......NO!

I sure hope that all of your new accessories arrive before the Himalayan leaves, Bill.   ;)

So you sold all your Enfields, then bought another, 350 with a carb? I guess I can't say much. I'm 60, and have had close to 60 bikes since age 16, those less than half were bought new. A carb is definitely the way to go, if you can get away with it. They don't have inspections for bikes here in the U.S. I have considered buying a used Hinckley Triumph, but it felt to Japanese. I like my bikes to make noise and vibrate. So I bought a used Harley Sportster instead. Carbureted of course. Is that blue Yamaha 175 dual sport a 2 stroke? I bought a new 1980 Yamaha DT175 2 stroke 40 years ago. I would pay a pretty penny for one today. You see them on Craigslist once in a while, but there are no parts available for them. I love 2 strokes. I have a 2 stroke Genuine Stella, copy of a Vespa PX150, made in India, known everywhere else as the LML Star. I don't think LML exists anymore, but it is such a close copy that 99.9% of vintage Vespa parts fit it.

Love the tank. Dont spoil it with knee pads,  clear film, if it is likely to scratch. Looks a beauty. Enjoy!

Glad to hear you're fully engaged with the breed again, Wildbill. This Forum would have been the poorer without you had you lost all interest in the marque.

As for me, I'm really warming up to those 650s, with a particular hankering for a chrome or Silver Spectre Interceptor (prefer to sit and beg, and just gotta have that centre stand). The only thing I don't like so much about them styling-wise is that ridge under the tank...though I imagine I'd eventually grow to like it if I had one.

So, here's hoping they start lumbering onto Craigslist some bargainy winter sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, here's where I shamelessly threadjack this well-worn topic with an appeal to your collective wisdom. Following tomorrow morning's monthly 'Bikes and Breakfast'  shindig in Clifton, Virginia, I'm likely to follow one of the other regular attendees back to his place to look over an old Moto Guzzi he's looking to shed, having more than enough other rides in his stable. It may or may not come with one of those single-wheeled Inder trailers, which it's already all rigged up to tow. Apparently the bike has 99,000 miles on it and has some issue with some drive seal at the rear wheel leaking oil, both of which aspects give me pause. Frankly, I'm sort of most interested in the trailer, but what say you all? Should I even consider a bike with so many miles on the clock, even a Guzzi, and one with known issues to boot? I know a bunch of you also have Guzzis, so will have far more insight on the matter than I.

About the bike: It's a 2001 California Jackal, which is an 1100cc "sports cruiser"--Not normally my cup of tea, but the wife might be more comfy pillioning on it than on my sprung-saddle Bullet "Military" or perched on the bum pad of my gangly Norton "Texas Cow-Poker" on longer stretches. Apparently it comes with a whole bunch of gear like a custom rack, manuals, a Power Commander, newish rear tire, and so forth. Anyhow, attached are a few pix of the bike in question. Lemme know what y'all think.

thanks to the above members who commented-I think chrome was the way to go. was my original choice months back when it wasn't available so got it now. saying that up until the last moment it was a toss up between the chrome and the bakers express colour. either colour would have been fine.

ive gone through probably 9 bikes this year and 7 of them I think were new. might be wrong on the number but some-where near that number and although I did have a bit of drama with the gas cap on the first Interceptor I think overall it was a pretty good bike. saying that I was also interested in the 500 trials but its not here in OZ yet
back to your guzzi issue. i'd say it would depend upon two things. I suppose buying it wouldn't be the problem it would be fixing it if there was any problem. if these bikes can handle high mileage which it appears they can  and still give you a bit of bang for your buck plus you can fix or repair the bike yourself and the price is right too-in my case I can't fix/repair so i'm stuffed there ;D i'd say it's probably worth a hit subject to in your case the actual $$$ involved
