Title: Oil Filter Question
Post by: Scotty Brown on February 20, 2019, 01:49:27 am
Oil filter change -- I have a 2013 C5--Went to my local today to purchase a new oil filter -- He asked what year and I replied 2013 --" We don't have them anymore they changed in 2016 you will have to order from Hitchcocks "-- Is anyone aware of a change in the oil filter?  If this in not correct I feel the dealer is doing a dis-service to our brand -- Any comments would be appreciated,  Scotty

Ive never heard of RE changing the oil filter and I can't think of one good reason they would do it.

They might have changed the kit number because originally, the filter kit included some extra O-rings to rebuild the spring loaded thing that pushes on the filter body but they changed that to something that doesn't need to be taken apart and it doesn't need to have anything replaced in it.

The basic filter is the same as it always was.

I might add, the O-rings don't need to be replace 99 percent of the time.  If they don't have any rips or tares in them go ahead and reuse the existing rings.

The oil filter for every UCE from 2009 is identical.
I also discovered that the same filter is identical to that used in the AVL.
Glad I bought plenty back in the day.

Update in dealership So Cal Motorcycles -- The parts manager has reached out to me with an apology for the misinformation on my C5 filter and has offered free shipping to compensate for my wasted trip.  This type of customer service speaks volumes and I wish to make it know to the members of this forum of their actions.  Praise as well as criticism should be shared equally.
